If weather holds out, this Wed. i'm going to E-Town with a buddy of mine from work (has an 01 Mustang Bullitt) and his buddy (03 Cobra - nicely modded) for my (and my car's) first 1/4 mile run ever. Â*If any of you guys are free and feel like watching me embarass a perfectly good Trans Am with my poor-ass driving skills, that'd be cool....... :D

We're going to be heading there from Point Pleasant at about 5pm to get there for 5:30. Â*Hopefully some of you guys can make it, if not, it's cool, kind of short notice I know. Â* I'll post my time-slips when I get home. Â*

Ant was that you in the metallic blue WS6 in lane 4 or 5 ? I wasn't sure...but if it was I was in lane 2. Was a good night with a lot of F-bodies...

My first run (ever) i messed up and spun my wheels pretty bad for a 16.249 (still beat the 350z :) )

Second run I learned from my mistake and ran a 13.929

Third run I ran a 13.907...so close to 13.8 :(

Was a fun first time at the track and next time I won't come with a full tank of gas lol

Yeah that was me. Damn it and I saw your car, real nice! I was gonna come over and talk to ya too but pussed out :? . Nice runs.

Was my first time at the track too.

Run1: 13.98
Run2: 14.26 - forgot to turn the traction control off and bogged in first :banghead: - still beat some riced up civic
Run3: 13.64
Run4: 15.11 - tried launching harder and ended up spinning the tires pretty badly :(

Yea we need some sort of sticker for the back window so we know who is in the club :) I remembered you car from the site tho because its the pretty much exact car I wanted to get... love that color !

I'd be interested to know what others have run with a stock auto LS1 TA since it seems like I can't really get anything more out of her except lowering the weight a little next time. Maybe a little harder launch...but does anyone know what the average Time / Speed is for my car I can never find it. Of course its probably my gimp driving skills also :)

what was you trap speed? post the whole timeslip and we should be able to tell ya what ya need 2 do better...and most ls1 autos(pre 01) should be good for at least a 13.5 with mediocre driving

LOL...stickers would be good. I thought about buying letter stickers and spelling out NJFBOA.org , maybe I'll still do that. Unless the club has stickers we can buy.

Maybe ask Jersey_TA, his car had to be stock at one point..I guess, unless he bought it with some of the mods. Someone's gotta know. Maybe try LS1tech.com too. Lots of info over there too.

R/T Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* .686
60' Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â*2.207
330 Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* 6.037
1/8 Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* Â*9.128
MPH Â* Â* Â* Â* Â*80.59
1000 Â* Â* Â* Â* 11.723
1/4 Â* Â* Â* Â* Â* 13.907
MPH Â* Â* Â* Â* Â*102.54

I tried launching at 1k rpm and I spun the tires bad so i was just doing brake/gas and I didn't have any tire spin...I was racing in 3rd instead of Drive because it seems to shift at higher rpms with no overdrive (not sure if that is the problem) and more torque. Â*I had the feeling I could get into 13.8 pretty easy but 13.5 feels kinda far away.

with an auto you should nail a 2.0 60' easy...next time out try dropping the air pressure in the rear tires...2.0 60' with that kinda mph is definately good for a 13.5

NP_00'T/A
04-07-2005, 05:39 PM
i dropped the pressure to 30lbs in the rear and raised the front to 40lbs (was gonna lower more but its and hour drive home and i never saw a air station at E-town before)...what pressure do you guys recommend?

j0n
04-07-2005, 06:26 PM
dump it to 24 or less...and the air station is the little 4' by 4' hut just beyond tech inspection

I wouldn't go any lower than 24 or 25 with street radials - the sidewalls are too stiff so the middle of the tire will be sunk in and you'll have a much smaller contact patch.

If you are stuck with street tires at the track, play with 26 or 28 lbs. and keep practicing!
