No, i'm not talking about the video game. I'm talking about the actual physiological need to move at a rapid pace in a motor vehicle.
I was driving home tonite from school on Rt. 287. I was cruising along at 80 MPH, window down, enjoying the cool night air and the hum of the engine. The memory of driving the Camaro entered my mind. Instantly, my foot went down on the gas pedal. Strange....as if the thought of driving a sports car made my body react as if I were driving one. I don't know what it is, but driving fast in a car seems to be an actual need. I wished i had the Camaro at that point, cuz i would have been doing 100 MPH with the t-tops off, enjoying the rush of adrenaline as I screamed down the highway.
What is it about driving fast, racing especially, that makes it so addicting? There's just something about a cool spring/summer night, flying down the highway that invigorates the senses, and awakens that hunger for competition. Whenever I drive on a night like tonight, I go into a full-alert mode, ready to mix it up with anything that comes down the road. Unfortunately, I'm often in a car that's less than suited for such challenges
Once a race comes along, though, it is a rush like no other. If i had to pick one thing to do everyday, racing would be a great job. I don't think i'd ever get tired of it.
I need a new car. badly. the lincoln and now the saturn are really starting to wear me down. I need something fast, with rear-wheel drive and a manual trans. OK, it doesn't have to be mind-blowingly fast, but it need to have decent acceleration and good handling. I can't stand driving these econobox POS's anymore. anyone feel like giving me some money? :D

The weather changes and people get philosophical.
Work, make money, buy cool car, satisfy need.

Yeah, I deffinatly know what you mean...so do State Troopers of Penn and Conn.
The feeling of speed is a drug, and I dont think I can get enough. There is always faster. No matter what car you are in, or where you are, the feeling to push the pedal to the floor is always there.
Especialy on a day like today. Reminds me when my Dad used to take the ttops of the car and drive down the parkway to my Grandma's house.
I gotta get that car done damn it.

I don't really have a problem with the speed bug as much as I do the acceleration bug. I'd take a 0-60 in 3sec sprint over a high speed minute any day. God I gotta build me one of those FSAE cars with a 1000cc unrestricted turbocharged beast! Or maybe just nitrous so I can have better control in the corners... yeah, that's it. 0-60 in 2 seconds on the bottle and 1.6g's in the corners... ah the life.

:sigh:
I really kicked myself in the butt yesterday. Driving home from work in near 80 degree weather in my beat up Lumina with only 1/2 an exhaust on it, I passed Kare and Jenny in Kare's mustang 'vert going the other way. I immediately thought that I should be driving around a fast car with the top down or T-tops off, and I texted Kare saying that I should have bought a t-top Camaro instead. Instead of getting ready for the meeting I had after work, I went home and got to work on the car, getting more work done on her.
This procrastination has gone on way too long, I need to finish this car!

tuesday was my day off, and karen and i went a-cruising through pennington down some farmy roads, took off the roof, looked at some mansions, and stopped at my grandfather's old house (he passed away a few years ago). I hadn't seen the house in about 5 years, and we pulled up the 18th mile driveway, (er at least, it's pretty damn long, you cant see the house til you are at the end, up a big hill) the people living there were outside, and i got out and introduced myself. i was hoping to only have to turn around but i was caught, haha. they invited us in though, man that brought back some memories, touring that old house, the 9 acres of land it's on. i almost cried, i missed it.
While the feeling of speeding is great and all, the rush of the danger of it is addictiing, sometimes i could just settle for a cruise in the sunset of a warm day, and for whatever reason, it always brings some kind of unplanned adventure for me, like ending up at my grandfather's old house. it was a really good night.

...however i would like to thank my ex for making me feel like crap, so that i could have en excellent excuse to go crusing, and hug the sharp turns and curves of rooute 32. When i go for a cruise, nothing can bring me down. and nothing is better cure for the blues than a cruise. :) and now everything is fine. I'm alive, my car runs. It's a good day.

Right on! Cruisin around is my "getaway" from reality. Nothing can get me down on a good cruise around to nowhere. I just drive and try to get lost and find my way back home. Yesterday I took a two and a half hour drive up here around Rutgers, and it was great. Soon enough it will be time again where I can just go driving around in the Chevelle with the top down, and then NOTHING will bother me....as long as the cops stay away!!!
