View Full Version : my wonderful clutch issues *update*
well the guys at ecs said to bring it in, so im having it towed up there thursday morning. I guess they are going to inspect the entire hydrolic system and hopefully find the problem....
i havent calmed down, stoped thinking about it since the first second it happened, and i hope whatever they find is an issue with somthing i bought from them, and that they honor their parts.
if not ill be out 3 tows, and out a car for at least half the summer as i am low on funds and cant afford to make the same purchaces 2 times in 2 months.....
i understand that with racing things will break......but a 2 month, 2400 mile old hydrolic system shouldnt be one of those things. i will update this thread as soon as i drop it off and talk to chris in person.
Damn, that sucks man :( . Best of luck getting it back on the road.

Hope everything works out today. If the company has any respect for their own name they will fix or replace whatever broke.

good luck bro
well its there....... chris said to "not worry about it" and that "no matter how hard i was on the car, it cant be my fault".
he had 3 vettes in the shop, and was out in the parking lot with the valve covers off a supercharged, juiced 427 c5 while i was talking to him
said he wasnt too busy so he will look at it asap and call me with every update.
so far so good, we shall see
What shop is this that you're dealing with? TTP?

i drive past there all teh time on my way to new egypt speedway. they have a good reputation, so i wouldn't worry about it too much.

I've heard nothing but great things about that shop. I really doubt you'll be upset by what they have to say about it. IE they'll probably foot the bill.
i know he will take care of the hydros, im just scared that it might have toasted the clutch as well, and i didnt buy that from them....
only time will tell, and if i wasnt broke as **** i wouldnt even be worried.
I would think that if your clutch did get fried, they would pay for it. Their work failed causing the clutch to fail, so it would still be their fault whether it was their clutch or not.
:stupid: and apparently they are well-liked so they should pony up the cash for a new clutch

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!
i currently have no woes with ecs...just the parts that are on the car. if they can take care of everything and keep me up to date with whats going on, then i will not have any problems with them at all
just sent my n2o fill permit in with them as the location of fills.... so i cant get too mad
still havent heard from them, so im debating wether i want to bug them by calling or not..... :?

I say if you don't hear from them by this afternoon, you should give them a call and just ask if they have had a chance to look at it yet. If so, then ask them what it looks like.

he killed his stock one...went and bought a new spec clutch? got the hydrolics & stuff as well as the clutch at ecs...2000 miles later and he killed this clutch...has been waiting since thursday to hear back from ecs about whats going on.
hydros took a ****, lost the fluid = no clutch pedal, put in new fluid, watched it pour out the bottom of the car......
as of tuesday at 5pm they havent looked at it

AS long as the fluid didn't get on the pressure plate or disc you should be OK, but that reeks of Slave cylinder..did you upgrade to the 01 style slave or is it the stock 99?
i bought a master, slave, clutch and flywheel
all of it was brand new and updated

if it is leaking out of the bellhousing it has to be the slave, there isn't anything else down there unless the line isn't in all the way.
they have a new slave in case thats it, still havent taken a look at it though yet.
im just hoping i dont have to pay the 400 dollar labor charge all over again....i dont care about paying for parts.
its HOME
aparently we were all right, the slave took a massive ****....
chris at east coast said it was the first time he has ever seen it happen, so they took care of me free of charge.
seems like all my worries werent needed, they took care of their work.
took a week and a day (including weekend), durring one of the bussiest times of the year, so they squeezed it in well.
