Was checking out the letter from the DMV today that I got, stating that because I got the unsafe driving ticket (0 points) within the first 6 months of my probation, I am scheduled for a 90 day suspension as of May 31.

I remembered the course I took, I need to try to find my notes with the officer's name (it was a retired cop), he specifically said that suspension happens if you get points. Because he said you would not get it from a non-moving violation, only those with points. I don't know though how much that can help me.

Looked at the DMV notice I got upon completion of that course, and to my dismay it only states "any violation" will cause suspension.

So it looks like my ENTIRE SUMMER will be license-less... more time to fix my car I guess :?

This, on top of a probably not too hot semester grades wise.... :x :x :x   :x

the DMV is right, it's ANY moving violation. sorry to hear about that. If i'm not mistaken, they also take away your license for the year you were supposed to be on probation in addition to the 90 days.

Yes, moving violation... which technically means points. I got my careless, which would have been 2 points, pled down to unsafe, which is 0 points (well I found out today it's 0 points unless you get it 3 times in 5 years, then its 4 points slapped on, buit thats n/a here).

And also, it's just a straight up 90 day suspension from May 31st till whenever, end of August I guess.

I think I'm going to be the first person in history to have a suspension with ONE POINT on his license.

points or not..... "unsafe operation of a motor vehicle" is a moving violation. insurance points and dmv points arent the same thing, just because somthing dosent carry points does not mean you cant get screwed.

:stupid:
It sounds like this unsafe driving thing is a moving violation, just a strange one. Since it CAN carry points, its probably considered a moving violation even though you received 0 points.

Seatbelt ticket = non-moving, Failure to exhibit docs = non-moving, Parking = non-moving, anything that ends in 'driving' must mean that you were moving.

that sucks dude. i spent the first 8 years of my driving history with my license being valid for no longer than 6 months at a time. i screwed up big time when i first got my license and i had so many points that if i sneezed in traffic the DMV suspended me.

this new thing with the probation during the first year can screw you big time if you aren't careful. i guess in your case, even if you do everything you can to save it they still suspend you.

You dont actually have to get any points to lose your license. I was on probabtion and got a ticket. I got it reduced to no points, just a fine and I still lost my license. It sucks, but at least you're not gonna lose it for 7 months like I did. :?

Unsafe Driving is kind of a freebie...Its a reduction down from points where the fine is just doubled....it is still a moving violation.
