View Full Version : Bought another car (upto 3)
Ill have pics mostlikely tomorrow when I pick it up. Its a 1984 Olds Cutlass Supreme. 3.8 V6 carbbed. Underbody is so clean its disgusting. It looks like it never went through rain/mud/dirt. It has 89k orig miles. Some grandma owned it and died. Son sold the car. Its red in color. I like the idea of the 3.8 V6, cause the camaro and grand marq arent that great on gas.I know its bad, but I think Im going to put on chrome, 15" 100 spokes.
This isnt gonna be my fast car. its gonna be my cruiser. Im thinking of a decent stereo system, wheels (not 100% on the spokes) and mebbe if I have some cash lying around, I might put airbags or a custom paint job.
just dont get hydros. I ****ing hate hydros. Sweet car, but I dont know if a carbed motor is gonna get good gas mileage.

 Best of luck
Got any tips for me James?
And bags > hydros. I like the look of lowering it, but that hopping.....Ill leave it to the mexicans.

Holy  , that sounds like the exact car my friend Ethan has. His is an 84 Olds Brougham that was spotless. I honestly wouldn't have had any problem eating out of the engine bay! He ripped it apart to build it up but I think he's selling it to get it out of his parents garage (works for Jim Head funny car team in Columbus Ohio). The 3.8 carb was a POS to the nth power. It was so slow that I couldn't tell if he had a lead foot or not... he would tell me periodically on a slight upgrade that he's floored just to watch me bust out laughing. It was terribly underpowered to the point of not even being a cruiser. A cruiser needs to have some power to be able to pull out into traffic, this didn't even have that.
Seeing as it's a g-body you have a lot of options as far as building one up. The GN's did mighty well with that platform :)
I dont want to kill my gas mileage. I was thinking, I saw a 4bbl manifold and I got plenty of 4bbl carbs. But just dumping all that gas in, is worthless w/o changing heads/cam. Like I said, its my cruiser, not my go fast
you have a grand marquis and an L03 camaro...and now a v6 cutlass...when do you plan on getting a "go fast"?

Glad that the car is nice and clean, but I'll vouch that that motor sucks.
LittleG had one in his first car ('81 Malibu) and my 2.8/A4 '85 Camaro would run circles around it, even when the bottom end was coming apart.

Just drop a turbo Buick motor in it and you'll have some go fast and some decent gas mileage(as long as your lead foot isn't too heavy).
