it really depends on how much power you are planning to throw at the tires. with a mild combo like litle g has you can run 235/60-15 drag radials with great success. with a proper suspension set up you would eb good on the 235's anywhere below 300hp prolly.

i have seen plenty of people put 275 section drag radials onto stock 7inch wide wheels.

if you want to go bias ply you can get hoosier 26x9.5's to fit easily.

Gears, power etc.... we may need to know a bit more.

You could fit a 9.5" wide slick on a 7" rim quite safely... Probably a 10.5" but it might be a little bulgy. Hoosier makes a 26x9.5" QTP, you could go with a 235 drag radial, whatever floats your boat.

I have completely stock suspension and can effortlessly cut 1.70 60 fts on 27x10.5" Hoosier QTP's with a very light burnout (it'll go 1.60's next time out...)

Wow...if you are spending this much time working on the rest of the car, at least grab a set of 3.42's off of one of the 4th gen guys who are upgrading. It would be pointless not too.

are you setting up teh suspension for drag? i would stick to radials with that little power. slicks/cheater slicks would jsut be overkill and end up costing you et.
if you are setting up teh chassis to run in a straight line i woudl just go with 235/60-15 bfg or m/t drag radials. if you need to tires to do the work go for 275/50-15's.

Just curious, but how much would someone expect to pay for a set of MT's or Hoosiers, and where do you guys go about buying them and mounting them?

I would be afraid to let a lube tech touch DR's.

if your rear is a 10 bolt, i went to a bone yard, found a GM small pick-up trucks, or 83'-up Astro-vans ,pulled off rear end covers till i found 4.10, look for a 4cyl. kind first in trucks, the teeth are 41-10. as for tires if you use slicks -(MT-3052) 26x8.5x15 on a 7" rim fits nice, or street tires-(MT-6542)Sportsman Pros 26x10.5x15 on a 7" rim, they hook nasty with a lite burnout-no smokey ones with these,no tubes in either sets of tires, just sealer around the beads. good luck.

I think QTPs go for $160ish each - I found mine (26x9.5x15) very lightly used for $200 for the pair.
