I want to buy it but let's face it, I'm broke and we already have 7 cars at my house so it's probably a no go.

The car is a 67 Camaro RS. The owner claims it was an original big block car with the 4 speed. I'm not sure if there were big block cars in 67 though...JL8Jeff would probably know best. The car was recently painted (black) and the guy says he has all new chrome ready to go on it including bumpers. It has no engine in it but he does have the trans. Interior looked decent....needs a headliner and a few other things. He's moving and it looking to get $6,500 for it. If it is in fact an authentic big block car I'd say it's probably a damn good deal.

If anyone wants to know where it is let me know and I"ll give you directions.

IF it's a real SS/RS 396 car then it's worth some money regardless of the engine being gone or not. The 67's have information on the trim tag to prove or disprove if it's a Z28, SS350, SS396, RS, 4 speed, etc. The 68's have nothing to help prove if it's a real SS, RS, Z28. The 69's have some information to prove what it is but that information isn't available on LA built cars or cars built prior to Dec of 68. A lot of the 70-77 cars also have information on the trim tag proving if it's a Z28, SS350, SS396.

so, basically, what jeff is saying is that you need the info from the trim tag - the metal plate attached to the driver's side of the firewall - to find out if it's as sweet a deal as you think. i don't buy cars that don't have the original engine in them or at least available as part of the purchase.

you could always buy one of the 3 remaining 427 aluminum recasts to put in the car...

Yeah or you could get a period correct 396 for cheap instead. Or bit the bullet and buy a 572 crate engine!

I also would never guy a car without first decoding the VIN and trim tags.
