Get the LT4 Hot Cam kit, it comes with everything you need besides gaskets. It has Retainters, bolts, HD springs, and 1.6 roller rockers.

You'll more than likely need to have the heads machined to accept the 1.32" LT4 valve springs.

According to gmpartsdirect.com, you dont need to machine anything.

This off-highway camshaft kit has the major valve train component to convert production LT1 engine for showroom stock racing, or hop up your small block Chevrolet V8 that was originally equipped with a roller tappet camshaft. The 1.6 roller rockers, light weight valve spring caps, special designed valve springs and hot camshaft offers a significant gain in horsepower at a reasonable price. This kit includes the following items: one camshaft P/N 24502586, 16 roller rocker arms kit P/N 12370839, 16 valve springs P/N 12551483, 16 valve caps P/N 10212808, 16 valve keys P/N 24503856, 16 valve spring shims P/N 10212809.

Where does it say anything about the valve springs dropping in? I'm no LT1-guy but most SBC factory valve springs are only 1.25" so the pocket they sit in will be cut to fit that size and nothing bigger. The LT4 spring is 1.32" ...Once again, I never touched an LT1 but if it was me I'd go out, pop the cover off, and measure the spring pocket diameter before I bought the kit.

Anything been replaced lately? With 131K I would certainly replace the timing chain set and lifters. Chain gears will be worn/stretched, lifters may be too weak for the new springs? Why take the chance of having to tear it all apart again for a $200 part?

Maybe also want to think about a water pump ( or switch to an electric one ), and a new opti or at least cap and rotor.

Might as well do it since you have then off anyway.
