Or the single plane next to it? What are you planning to do with this car? How many Cu.In?

Koll........ you DO realize that style intake is for an engine making power in the 5,000 - 8,000 rpm's range?

LETS PUT IT ON THE OLDS :headbang:
I know that intake is for a high RPM range. And that Ill have no throttle responce. And that Im gona dump a lot of fuel in there.
But ill look cool.

yeah thats what i was sayin if he plans on building a motor that has street HP thats not the one he should go with...

Nope, close, but not close enough. That intake is plagued by poorely setup carbs that have given it the stereotype of not having low-mid range power. Fuel inject that bad boy and it'll knock the socks off of any other POS crab intake out there. It has the highest flow potential and straightest runners, I like.
The RPM range has some saying on the power potential but the real deal is the air flow. A healthy 383 might not make 7000+rpm but it'll move a LOT of air. Horsepower is proportional to air flow. The more air you cram in a combustion chamber the more potential :) .
Those Tunnel rams work very well with little 450 carbs ontop that'll support 600hp and give excellent throttle responce (when tuned ;) ).
Look at the Holley stealth ram for comparison.
I don't like the scope. That, like Matt said, is for blower cars. It would look like a poser being ontop of a n/a engine. Go old school... screens and no air cleaner :) .

that car is gonna porduce so much torque off the line that it will twist the chasis... :typeR:

pretty interesting write up of how running without an air cleaner can actually lose HP compared to using the right combination of parts. Bottom line, use the tallest air filter you can find with the flattest base. this will help direct air into the carb without a whole lot of turbulence.

Yeah, that's just stupid. A classic example of overcarbing a motor and then complaining about the tuning nightmare.

"Our test big-block actually recorded slightly rich air-fuel ratio mixtures at peak power with just the bare carburetor. Once we added the Flow Control and other air cleaner assemblies, the additional airflow slightly leaned the air-fuel ratio by roughly a quarter of a ratio. This probably improved the power slightly, although earlier jet changes of more than half a ratio did not improve the power output more than a couple of horsepower." From the link you just sent me.
That basically tells me they are selling out to K&N. ****ers didn't even tune the no-air cleaner assembly. Instead, they said the just carb setup was richer than the other tests that they tuned properly using the correct jets to make peak power, lol, what a sell out. I'd like to piss in their gas tanks for insulting my intelligence and clouding the whole issue of running an air cleaner. The only good thing is that they did post that disclaimer for guys like me to prevent the majority from going and buying a K&N.
Running an open carb is obviously a bad idea but it's an old school look. It says, "This engine eat's small children and pets when you're not looking." Again, not a street car but man is it cool to see it on the street from time to time. Let's hope the ricers think it's cool and destroy their engines in the process. Remember, making 400hp with a big v8 and some dust doesn't do NEARLY as much damage as a 400hp small cubes inline 4 or turbo :) .
p.s.- The fastest turbo cars don't run air cleaners, explain that. :P

I've seen cars run faster with air cleaners than without. An carb without an air cleaner can get a lot of turbulance around it. If your car runs worse with one installed its because its either too small or old and dirty ...Theres really NO reason not to run one
