I got my test results back and I passed all 4 of them 8) . I'm pretty happy about it. Now I just have to wait until september to become officially certified (damn 2 years experiance requirement).

Hrm...do you need 2 yrs experiance with ALL ASE certs? I have about 8 months with Strauss and 1 year and a month with Sears. I wanted to get my ASE in parts and service, just so I could wear that cool badge 8)

Thanks everyone. skorpion317, I'll be taking more in november so we can have us a little competition to see who scores higher  .

Oh and Al, the 2 year thing applies for all the ASE tests, but obviously you can take the test before you reach 2 years.

you're on!

the 2 year thing is for any ASE test. for mechanics, they must pass the test and have two years of experience in the field to be officially ASE certified in a specific area of expertise. To become an ASE certified Master technician, you must pass all 8 basic ASE tests, plus the two years of experience. There's more tests, for example, most people take the Advanced Engine Performance test after passing the other 8. this allows you to do emissions testing if you have your own shop.

Congrats Ian! That's good news man!

Thanks :)

This fall I'm taking the other 4 automotive tests and possibly the L1 test which is advanced engine performance. If I pass all of those I'll be a master tech 8)

i'm pretty sure you can only take 4 at a time. you'll have to wait till the spring for L1.

I think you can only take four in one day, but there are two days of testing. Either way, I'm not really in a rush to get L1. Besides, they always run those computer ASE's between the paper and pencil tests so I wouldn't have to wait too long to take it. They're running computer ASE tests in july or august and I was thinking about taking those, but I need to brush up a little more
