sorry to see people lose their kjobs but,....... my stock is about to go up :)
gm has been getting smarter over the years about their overlapping management and the overlapping labor base thqat follows.
now if they could jsut get their **** together about which division is supposed to have which identity i would be a happy camper.

More middle management people holding up GM from reacting faster to market demand. Sorry to say this, but buh bye. Maybe Toyota will hire you.

GM needs ot lean out and start to fight back with faster product turn out, and get them to market so that they are trend setting, not trend following.

GM needs to quit lagging behind everyone else, but they REALLY need to quit telling us what we want instead of listening to what we want.

theres also talk about leaning out he product lines in some of its divisions...especially buick/pontiac from what ive heard so we'll see what happens...the employee price thing is a great deal cuz you also get any applicible discounts offered ie $3000 rebates/interest deals...i went looking at some silverado 2500HD's in most cases it was ~$10k off the origonal sticker...good time to buy if your shopping for something new or semi new.

Yes, well GM will be sort of pushing Buick, Pontiac and GMC closer together and treat it almost as one division. In reality, its not a bad move. GM can no longer treat each division like a seperate car company and have 3 cars that fit the same discription.

Chevy should always continue to make bread and butter cars, and have the largest line up because they are the most popular/well known brand GM has.

Pontiac should have 4-5 cars, and EVERY SINGLE ******** ONE OF THEM NEEDS TO BE FAST!! They need to aim for the Mazda to Inifity crowd, everything from sporty affordable compacts like the Mazda 3, to a G35 RWD sedan and coupe. Make the G6 more like the Nissan Altima with hipo V6, and bring in a G8/GP replacement that is RWD, but very nimble with V6 and V8 option.

Buick needs to take on the luxury end and follow almost exactly what Chrysler is doing. LaCrosse is nice, Luceren is eh...but a Velite like vehicle is NEEDED! Throw in a new crossover SUV to battle the likes of teh RX330, and bam.

GMC...stick tight to what you got. GMT900 will be ariving this year, and is gunna be blowing doors off Ford, Dodge and Nissan.

:stupid: tell me again why you dont work for gm? in alot of cases recently they have almost been cannibalizing each other...look at oldsmobile with the bravada as probably the best example you had that the envoy & trailblazer not to mention the blazer priced similarly...thankfully gm realized this but after the fact of course...also you have to keep in mind they put cars together for isuzu & rebadge them...I dont know what the deal is there & if its a good or bad thing but just something to add. Even the situation now buick has the reineir(sp?) which you can option for the 5.3 v8 as well as the isuzu version of the trailblazer whereas until the trailblazer SS or gmc envoy v8 come to market you cant get one with a v8 even those I believe they all sit on the same chassis:shrug: Some people like me just dont have faith in an I6 being able to tow anything other then a jet ski. I love gm products for the most part but they've just made so many errors over the last 10 years I've lost alot of faith...obviously their customers & even employees have as well.

You can get a V8 in the Tblazer and Envoy, but only in the LWB models. The Buick Ranier is the only SWB model, outside of the TB SS, to get a V8.
But the 4.2 I-6 was just upgraded to 291hp, why spend the buck for the 5.3 making 9 more hp? It will deffinatly tow what ever you need it too, as it is the strongest base engine for any SUV in its class, by a large margin.
The GMT360, the chassis the Tblazer, Envoy, Ranier, and the Accender are built on, is getting updated and reformated. There will be one wheel base to seat 7 people. I think Buick should scrap the Ranier because its too truckish, they need something FWD/AWD based. They had that with the Rondevou or whatever, but that mofo was FUGLY!! It would have been a nice SUV thing if they styled it differently, something to really shake up Lexus's RX300/330.

Also, the Saab 9-7x is also added to the GMT-360 list, but some how they tuned it pretty well to where most people like the handling. Im sure that some of the suspension parts are shared with the new TB SS...which btw looks f'ing awesome! Such a sharp looking SUV with thoes nice 20's on them. They look tasteful, and not gaudy...very nice.

BTW, pick up this months Motor Trend and they have a big lay out of Chevy's SS line up, comparing a 64, 94, and 2006 Impala SS. They also have info on the new 2WD Silvy SS (still long bed, extended cab) and more info on the TB SS.

I wish I could work for GM. In all honesty, they wouldnt have to pay me much. If they housed me, fed me, let me drive whatever car I wanted, and just some spending cash here and there, I would so do it just for a chance to sit in these board rooms and hear what exactly they are talking about and how they think things out.
GM needs to get lighter on there feet. They need to be as fast, if not faster then the smaller companies like Toyota and Honda.

i said it before and i will say it again. gm's biggest problem is a lakc of market identity for teh brands.
they cut olds and then suddenly saturn is making cars on all the same platforms. what is the point?
there used to be a clear and seperate image for each brand name. now gm seems content to follow market trends 3-5 years after everyone else and turn out the same car with the same weak marketing under 3 or 4 brand names all at similar price points.
if gm would get back to the old mentality of being a car company that people would grow with, they could getg back to holding 1/2 of the world automotive market like they used to.
