for those that dont know, i was coming home fro the kahunaville camaro car show this past sunday and all of a sudden the motor made a huge cloud of white smoke and it wont crank. upon inspection after i towed it home the number 5 plug is smashed. i think somethign in my valvetrain let go since if i blew up a piston or rod i wouldthink that i wouldve heard a loud ass noise. so when the motor comes out its going to frank bash race engines and getting a nitrous cam installed along with possibly a set of aluminum heads. any opionions on the heads? i want somethign street/strip. i already have world products sportsman 2 heads now (cast iron). let me know!!! oh and at least the day wasnt a waste i took 3rd place in teh 3rd gen modified class. the car that beat me for 2nd def shouldnt have, somehow a cd player and a red painted TPI plenum takes a win over my camaro, oh well.

what rpm are you shifting that thing at again?
jegs is selling afr knock offs for good prices. they would be a nice bang for teh buck and dropping 70-80lbs off the front fo the car is always a good idea :D
sorry to hear this happened. but now you have the perfect excuse to upgrade.

the new cam powerband will be 2800-6400 rpms. yeah it sucks, but i intended on ripping the motor out at the end of the year but **** happens i guess. Bash race engines will have my motor next sat most likely and he'll have it for 3 -4 weeks so that puts me around mid july i get it back. you can rest assured the day i get it ill be off of work the next day to drop it in the car. anyone need a set of sportsman 2 heads and/or a comp cams solid lifter cam?

another head i just thought of is the brodix track-1. great heads, a little on the pricey side.
whatever heads you get take the time to gasket match them to the intake while you have everything apart.

You better tell them that the motor has to be back in the car and all sorted out by August 14th ;)

Number 5 plug smashed... I don't think the number 5 piston is going to be in good shape. It's hopefully just a dropped valve and the piston got stopped. Problem is that when a valve drops and it's able to stop the piston from traveling upwards, there's a lot of side load and the piston skirts can get really ****ed up. I hope that's not your case.
As for heads, Jegs aluminum, Canfield, any big aluminum head is good. Don't spend too much since you are running nitrous. Jegs seem the best bang for the buck. If it were a super/turbo/n/a engine I'd say get some 18 degree heads or the raised runner AFRs. Trick Flow also has some excellent heads for the sbc.

race rites are a pretty good bang for teh buck head. they should work nicely.
how big are teh chambers on your current heads? jsut wondering what, if any, effect there will be on compression. gotta keep that beast pump gas friendly :)

Trick Flow's heads seem the better buy. They're priced actually comparible to Jeg's. I think with how much $$$ Trick Flow has been able to profit from the Ford guys they can offer a better hp/$ ratio than Brodix. AFR's still in the profit mode so I'd avoid them for your app. Take a look through Trick Flow's heads and tell me why the Brodix is better, I might be overlooking something simple like I usually do.

i have 72 cc chambers and it works out to 9:1
so the new ones would be a 67 which i figure would put me around 10-10.25:1 which for an alminum head is ok Hence LT1's.
so overall youre thinking trick flow? hmm im starting to take the motor apart fri ngiht and yank it tuesday night so timmy and john if youre available id appreciate it, if not thats cool.
