I started the car up, it was hot, so i threw on the A/C...everything was going good...i went to pull out of my driveway, and when in reverse it first didnt want to move...then i tapped the gas and it began moving...halfway into my turn out of the driveway, the car stalled. couldnt figure it out. the voltage dropped to around 10 or 11 volts with the a/c and lights on...and the blinkers barely wanted to blink when turning off my street. it was fine once i was driving.
then i went to get a milkshake...was leaving, the car in D, waiting at at a stop for clearance to turn. it stalled again. this time the a/c wasnt on.
what could be causing this?

just a thought battery? something to do with the tranny/torque converter?

what would the tranny /TC have to do with that?

tranny/TC might cause it to not move at all..... but i dont think itll stall it. sounds kinda like what happened to my g/fs car when the Alternator went. believe it or not it stalled when she put her blinker on it got so bad.

i agree. sounds like a dead alternator.

Happened to mine in the fall

could it just me that my starter wires are getting toasted by my headers?

not likely. once the car is started you would have to completely cross the leads on the starter to do anything. the alternator being beat would cause voltage fluctuations that can stall teh car easily.

how much is a new alternator...are there better ones to go with...etc. i know its a pretty easy thing to change as i had to take this one off and on numerous times during the swap.

I think mine ran 90 with exchange.

Check the wiring connections. If they're loose just a little bump in the driveway can cause it to cut out. That voltage is abnormally low... for a running engine. It's not low if that's what is measured while cranking!
How's the transmission running? Before I go to NH for a couple weeks I'd like to go to Atco. How's this Tuesday sound? I drive down there, you drive up, we do some tuning to get something to eat, then nothing but WOT tuning... so long as your transmission and TV cable are up to it

I've been checkin everything out...can't find anything loose. I'll be looking into a new alternator.
Jon, Ziggy hooked it up with the trans...I still need to get around and install that quarter stick but besides that the thing is doing just fine. Oh, and I went to GM and got the right TV cable this time around :D .
