I now also own a 1985 IrocZ. Its no show-winner, but its not a beater either. It belonged to a friend who just went away for the army for a few years. It only has a 305 but at least it is a 5speed. It also has ttops. The exterior is black with red interior. some options include pwr windows, manual door locks, posi, 145mph speedo. OH and i FINALLY got to use a set of 3rd gen taillights ive had sitting around for a few years. They are japanese export style lights for the 3rd gens. I have some serious modifications in mind for this car but i also have to address some rust issues that could get serious quickly. All in all its basically a restoration to stock appearence with some suttle differences, hehe. Once i get it done, i promise it will turn many heads and will be 1 of a kind.
So if you see a black iroc with flowmaster exhaust and taillights that dont look right, thatll be me, or my gf if she has it out that day.

I wish it was tpi, its just the electronic quadrajet, nothing special. I think TBI actually came out around 87 or 88, im not sure. but i'm debating dropping in one of the 5 engines I have sitting around and also I may go with a maf style tpi system or just going straight carb, i dunno yet, depends mainly on which engine goes in.
and the taillights took some getting used to. dont get me wrong, they are NOT the altezza style crap, or even the junk import style, they are the lights the came stock on the camaros exported to japan in the mid 80's. I have the 4th gen GM export lights on my SS so it means a little more to me to have both generations with the different, but stil GM, lights.

i'll add a picture tomorrow, right now my gf has it and I wont see her until after dark.

Dude... you have enough parts in your back yard to build a thirdgen from scratch!! So when you get to the DMV to get a title, just be like...

"What year is this vehicle?"

"Umm, mostly 1988... but some 89, 86 and 83 is in there too... so average its about a 1986 and a half..."
