I'll tell you what it is for those that don't know. It's a one year only (2004) Volkswagon made from the Golf body (i think, that stupid little hatchback thing) created to fight Evo's and WRX's. It has 240hp and 236tq V6 with a 6spd. There were only 5000 ever made. Only 5000 in the whole damn country and I happen to get my ass sliced up and handed to me at a stop light by one. Ive never lost a stop light race until now and I lost bad. It was on Blackwood/Clementon road this morning by Camden County College when I was headed home from work (I work nights). Yes, we were coming to a red light and I was on my brakes harder than he was stopping, and yes he was probably already in his powerband while I was not but it doesnt matter because that little gocart it warp speed and left me sniffling. It wasnt even a competition and my car isnt a piece of **** either, like I said I've never lost on the street, until now. Oh well, maybe I should be honored that I lost to a rare limited production car. Or maybe I should hurry up and buy the rest of my exhaust system.

those little things are quick, and they sound kinda cool too...i thought they had more power than that? if not, im sure theres plenty of mods out there for em.

Car and Driver:
Owing to all-wheel drive and a big load of standard features, the R32 weighs 3400 pounds, according to VW (more than 300 pounds heavier than the GTI VR6), which has a predictable effect on its ability to overcome inertia. VW forecasts 0 to 60 in 6.4 seconds, about the same as the GTI 1.8T we tested in March 2002. The Evo does it in 5.0, the STi in 4.6.
They're nice, don't get me wrong, but they are the slug of the performance AWD 4-bangers. Although I have seen a handfull of quick ones.

He might have been juiced or had any number of other mods to boost performance. Stock the R32 isn't much of anything other than a better golf... it's rather weak in the acceleration department.

The cars are fun to drive. Ive driven my friends moded 1.8T GTI, and that was a fun little go-kart, I couldnt imagine it being a VR6 plus AWD.
From all the mags I have read though, they say the AWD really makes the cars HEAVY. Theirs plenty of mods out their for that motor. If I had unlimited funds Id go with the HPA Racing Twin Turbo Kit

IMO, they are more suited for daily duty than performance duty. the high performance AWD turbo market is cuthroat which is why there are only 2 cars in it's class. it has been stated that the R32 was not a competetor to the STi/EVO market and Mazda has stated that the Mazdaspeed 6 will not be entering the battle either, and at 3600lbs, I don't blame them.
BUT R32 interior>>>>>>STi/EVO interior by leaps and bounds.
oh yeah, when I read the thread title I was thinking "where'd you see a Skyline here?"

Yea theres one in Roxbury once in a while, red with black trim skyline, GT-R i believe. Its a very nice car nonetheless, prolly the only Nissan I admire.
As the R32's, theres a blue one off Rt 10. It looks a little better than the normal GTI's. Personally, the only Volkswagen I like is the 80's Rabbits... 8 valves of fury that can do around 9's in 1/4 mile, modded and lightened more.

There's 5 skyline's up here 2 R32 and 3 R34's, but the VW R32 is more suited to auto-X than drag racing. Stock for stock it is about the same speed as the 1.8T in the 1/4 mile. AWD adds ALOT of weight and parasitic loss compared to FWD or RWD. I know Subaru's lose about 30% of their HP to the wheels, i would assume the VW is about the same.

yeah, this one was blue, it did look nice, well the back of it did! id imagine he did use some nitrous because he knew what was coming, he was behind me and saw me before I saw him and he just flew. as heavy as those cars are I'm sure he had plenty of mods. ill keep telling myself that.
Ive seen a blue R32 around here in w-b, PA. He keeps nailing it as he drives around, which is cool because the car sounds much better than I would have expected. They look ok with those huge rims and dual outlet chrome exhaust in my opinion also.
The only reason that R32 beat you (unless he was heavily modified) is because he jumped you out of hole bad. AWD will do that on the street. If you run him when you are ready you should do much better.

That is probably the same R32 that Auto X's up by Frackville Erik, BTW welcome aboard!

1/4 mile they will **** up a 1.8t
1.8s are doing mid-high 15s stock
i met up with the guy who has the r32 up here at e-town...went 14.3 BONE stock

is AWD loss that much? I always thought they lost about 18-22%, 'cause if I'm losing 30% and still getting 335 to the wheels, I may be they first to do a RWD EVO conversion!

Yeah thats correct, 1.8t stock is pretty slow. I have a friend with a modified (exhaust, chip, up and down pipes, 21 psi max boost) Jetta 1.8t, and he was able to do a traction limited (like a 2.6 60') 14.7 @ 98 mph at island.

No idea what an Evo loses, justtelling you what my Subaru lost. and I have seen a stock 1.8T go 14.77 and a stock R32 go 14.51 at Lebanon onthe same night. Obviously it also depends alot on the driver, but I think the cars are meant for different things. The R32 wasn't designed to 1/4 mile, it is an auto X/road racing car. AWD is not the best setup for a 1/4 mile. It is too hard to launch unless you get enough power to slip all 4 wheels. Besides I couldn't spend that kind of money and get spanked by a stock $25K Forester turbo full of groceries.

On the newer subaru's, I know its at least 25% on a dynojet. 30% is more like a mustang dyno number. Im going with 25% on my subby ;)

For the cash, its still a VW. I dont know what has gotten into VW and thier pricing is just getting above and beyond out of hand. The new Jetta can reach up to 30k!!! 30,000 FOR A JETTA!! I dont want to get started on the Phateon.
R32 is cool, but for the cash, there are a HELL of a lot more cars I would buy over that.

theres this neon around here that is dark green and some ******* put yellow highlights all over. like on the windshield wipers, the huge pep boys wing and hood scoop, the door handles, antenna and from what i saw some of the interior. it has those lame "drift" pep boys rims, like 14in, and the best part is through the rims you can see these tiny, im talking about 7in diameter, drum brakes painted...yellow. its always up at the don pablos in deptford, i should wait until he/she gets off of work and run them over and do a burn out on their chest.
