Any recommended rubber for 16" IROC rims? Im gonna go tomorrow and get em put on. I heard Kuhmo and Sumitomo's are good, and I was told Goodyear sucks!

I got the Kuhmos. Cheap, reliable, and good for 35,000 miles. They couldnt allign them cuz the front ball joint is ****ed. I just needed something quick. Ill post up pics of the upgrade on the Pro-Am 2morrow.

I got sick of Kumho's. They deformed after 2 years and couldn't even be balanced... that tells me their quality is below par.
I bit the bullet and got Perelli P-Zero Nero M+S Ultra high performance all seasons. Best tire I've had. It's lasted longer and gotten me my best 60' 2.02 with full inflation pressure and street trim (all setup for road racing).
It's stickier than the old Dunlop SP8000's and that's saying something. I'd go with a cheaper summer tire if you've got a daily driver else get these tires and you won't regret it. My tires didn't even need balancing upfront! They're THAT high quality, not just luck (both tires).

i say bfg g-force KDWS. ive had em since december of '03...i can do 75 on the highway when its soaked no problem, they grab pretty well...i managed a 2.067 60' on full street pressure. about 115 a piece for 245/50/zr16...i believe theyre rated to 168 mph.

Thanks for the offers guys. I just got the Kuhmos for daily driving, just something temporarily until I get my rims restored. Sometime over the winter Im going to send the IROC rims out to a place in PA thatll fully restore them to "A1 newer than new" shape for a good $700. I love the style and I feel that these rims arent too big or too small :-D . Im gonna go with the BFG G-force T/A's when that does happen. Mucho Gracias :)

well since this thread came back from the dead, ill comment on my tire experiences

i had the sumitomo HTR+, they wore out in a year (about 17k miles), and i could only cut a 2.26 60' on them

now i have Kumho Ecsta ASX tires, theyre wearing very nicely (about 8k miles on them so far) and grab much better than the Sumis, got a 2.10 60' time with them.

both tires are all season high performance, and around the same price.

end of pointless post

Heh. Fellow GP'er. :D '97 GTP here.

Anyway, I've run the following in that size, in order of preference:

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS
BFGoodrich KDW
BFGoodrich KDWS
Goodyear Eagle GS-C

The GS's and KDW's are pretty similar in performance IMO. Both are really good in dry and wet weather but only OK in snow (duh, since they aren't rated for snow IIRC). The KDWS's were decent in all weather but not as nice as I would have hoped in dry weather. The GS-C's suck ass. I only ran them because SLP was selling take-offs and they were cheap. I don't even think Goodyear makes them anymore.

I'm going to costco tomorrow to order my tires.

I'm going with BFG G-Force Sports.

255's in the back and 245's up front.

They are only 108.99 for the 245's and 110.00 for the 255's, that price includes installion.

Think thats a pretty good deal.

just stick with one size all the way around that way you can rotate...
cliff notes: same size FTW

:stupid:

It'll make life much easier, and the extra 1 cm in the rear isn't going to make much of a difference.

Oh boy, Costco!!!
Hope they tighten down the lug nuts....
108.99 for a 245/50-16? Ill have to take a look at what I have at work. We are running a huge sale on BFG and Mich tires.

BFG Traction TA's are great for all season, the Gforce Sport are also good. They were designed for sport compact cars to get the narrowish tire sizes and have the Gforce sport lable on them.
