What did you want to know?
I have a autometer gauge mounted in the center console, using a mounting plate made by Campro designed. The sendor screws into my oil pan ( canton pan ). Oil temp is 190+ in traffic, down to 170-180 when moving.
Does that help?

Mine is actually mounted on a port on the side of the trans and not the pan. No clearance probs for me.

it's hard to explain. it had a screw in port that the guy that had the trans before me used for his guage, and I used the same one. Kinda like a screw in freeze plug port.

Not sure, they have allot of different pans based on application and oil pump. I got the pan for the LT1 F-body for racing, 7 quart pan for the HD melling oil pump.
You can check their web site
http://www.cantonracingproducts.com/
They are not cheap, but these wasn't allot of others out there. It was over $250.

Thats a great idea I found one on my its right above where the shifter linkage mounts onto. No more having to drill a hole in the pan, now i just have to figure out my oil temp, not shure if i want to go with the canton pan or not.
