Any small block chevy heads will work with no problems. The only change is if u put 350 heads on a 400 then u need to drill steam holes. I wouldnt go too far with the 305 tbi as there performance potential is minimal but anyway good luck in your search.

i have a set of 305 tpi heads ported, cleaned, new valve seals, only thing that needs done is the new higher lift springs need to be installed on one of the heads.

You can use pretty much any head you want, but in order to maintain your compression ratio you need heads with a 58cc combustion chamber. If you are looking for good cheap heads, the aluminum L98s aren't too bad....

You obviously have no clue what your talking about... so leave it to ppl who know how to modify TBIs to talk.
and My9225 try and find a set of 305TPI heads they seem to be the best cost efficient heads, ported they should be good to high 13s. Theres also no power in the stock cams so look into getting a new cam.
Here's some links to get you started for modding a TBI

I hope you read these and get a better idea of how to mod it correctly. And dont listen to what people with no clue have to say there IS potential in modifying a TBI and theres also a higher sense of accomplishment and recognition(by people who know what it takes to put impressive numbers out of a 305TBI) but dont let people shy you away from modding it because its much more impressive to make a 305TBI run mid to low 14s than to see an lt1 crack into the mid 13s

Obviously it is you who does not know what they are talking about not me. Performance potenial of a 305tbi to run in the high 13s with tons of work i.e. head cam, doesnt seem like potential at all to me. Simply put TBI is garbage, great for trucks, bad for sports cars, no matter how you try to defend it.

Whatever you want to say about it... i dont consider myself anything along the lines of other people like tim and prevost on the board who know 500X more about the TBI than i do... but im giving someone support and the resources to go out and learn more and see that its possible to make HUGE gains over stock with relatively easy mods... and high 13s is entirely possible with the work so if you have never owned or modified a TBI i suggest that you dont chime in since you have zero knowledge.... tim and justin dont lock the thread so that the dude who started it can ask questions or w/e
also 92 ask JPrevost (Fastrthanyou) or NJSPEEDR about modifying TBI and exactly what goes into it they know a **** load about it

they arent the best platform to start with but with exhaust work, gearing, converter, cam & tuning they can run 13's...not to say thats a great # but they are really a cam limited motor from the factory to get good gas mileage...njspeeder was able to run consistant 14.1's with 3.54 gears, mild converter, full exhaust, intake & heads, stock cam & little to no tuning in reality. I think 1992camaro er whatever ran 12's with a shot.

And btw 90FormulaWs6 my first car was an 89 TBI 350 camaro RS, and i just put a cam in and tuned my friends 92 350TBI C1500 pickup. I think i know what im talking about, thanks for trying.

I suppose it comes down to usage - what are you planning to do with the camaro? Are you looking for a cruiser with some pep? Or a daily driver you can take to the track?

L98 vette heads are getting cheaper and cheaper. 58cc chamber maintains good compression and they will drop 50+lbs off the front of your car :)
while you have things apart i woudl really suggest a cam. no need for anythign fancy, a ton of guys run stock LT1 cams for huge gains. the stock cam is by far the biggest stumbling block that factory TBI faces.

Actually they *only* drop about 38 lbs....but still a nice improvement :)

I found a guy who has a pair of 350 vortec heads that he took off a 2000 chevy pickup and he only wants 150 for them and they only have 80.000 on them are they worth it. Or can i do better by getting something different. Let me know. I am just for know trying to make a cruiser with some pep maybe down the line make it a drag car not sure. For now just a cruiser.
NJSPEEDER you know where i could land a pair of vette head like you suggested for not to much money. What do you think about the heads i mentioned above.
thanks rico
9secfirebird hold on to those heads if the ones i am looking at arent good i will be turning right to you for the heads.
Also if anyone knows anyone selling 98 vette heads i would me interested to.

vortec heads are very good BUT, they will require a new intake as well, that is another $200+.
i think most vortecs are either 62 or 64cc castings as well, that would drop a little bit of the compression.
i usually deal with a place in bristol, pa called contemporary corvette. they are good people with fair prices on good parts. check them out at www.contemporarycorvette.com give them a call and see what they in stock.
the corvette show out in carlisle, pa is also coming up next month. you can always score a good deal on aluminum L98's there. :)

tbis can be good performers...injectors, 305 tpi heads (90formulaws6 has a pair for sale for 250 bucks fully ported) and an lt1 camshaft or xe256 for a tappet block (like 40 bucks for an lt1 cam), headers (which i have for sale for 50 bucks) and if ya wanted to you could get a performer intake manifold with a tbi adaptor for like 125 bucks, get a used intake and the adaptor you would prolly be lookin at 50 bucks. when ya do the cam, ya can do a gear drive for 100 or a double roller for like 50, some 1.6 ratio rockers if ya wanted (doesnt need to be done) for like 50 bucks. a catco highflow cat if ya wish for 50, or take the cat off for free, and a flowmaster exhaust or dynomax exhaust for about 150. so we are really talking about less than 500 dollars to make a 305 tbi into a good performer that will most definately eat up a stock tpi. additional modifications could include
a transgo shift kit for some more help for like 150 if ya want
a posi for like 100
gears (i have a set of 3.73s for sale for 100)
and some tubular lower control arms and panhard bar would help some, for like 150 bucks
or ya could box your lower control arms for free and it would help out alot.
and subframe connectors for 150 could only help any FBody.
but like i said, for less than 500 you can make a real strong performer, for less than 1000 bucks you can have a damn sweet ride dude. oh yeah...in full street trim (i know allllll about you weight reduction guys haha)
EDIT: i dont know what tuning cost, but if ya get heads cam intake injectors, do that and itll help you tremendiously
