For cars

Do any of the local 1/4 tracks have any rules about how gutted a car is? Is their some sort of required pieces?

Im talking like James, Tim & Craig style diet plan as far as no apholstry at all & one racing bucket seat.

most tracks require you to have an upholstered interior (it can't be bare metal inside). i know Island more or less requires a passenger seat, but Englishtown could care less. you can take out all of the sound-deadening material inside.

any more questions?

why does everyone want to gut out thier cars....it makes them ****in pointless...especially if you drive them every day, hmmm, no radio sounds like a good ole time...new/slightly old car + rip everything out = ****ing gay ! just fix up the engine to make it faster not make it some stripped out tin can !

I know exactly what your talking about, but this car im thinking of is not going to be driven every day, only place its going is on the highway to get to the track & back. Its a cheap way of going fast, and I can sell all the parts I dont need and make money for things that make the motor go.

Very good point

But then.... why race a pick up truck ;) It's meant for bad weather, towing and hauling stuff ;)

It's down to personal preference.

As for rules..... well... you gotta have a fire wall :)

Some races (like an efi event) require 2 matching seats, full carpetted interior, back seats can be removed, fiberglass parts can be used but must be painted, muffler, no lexan.

Hope that helps :)

And if you need a weight redux expert.... that would be me 8) Over 600 pounds gone from my birdie

Island doesnt require a passenger seat. Doesn't require an interior either. There has to be something separating you from the ground, along with you from the engine (firewall) and you from the fuel source. Pick up an NHRA rulebook, that's your best bet.

Why wouldn't it be able to be bare metal? For 'street legal' events maybe other tracks are different, but upholstery serves no purpose. Look at some cars that have sheet metal interior, there's no upholstery there. Wouldn't be any different.

Actually now that I think about it, every time I have ever gone to E-town for a street night or import vs. domestic events, all the Civic's & Teggies are down to bare metal ALL the time. I dont see why I couldnt do that with the fuel tank in the stock location, one of those plastic summit racing seats and possibly having a sealed battery box & switch in the trunk.

My friends fathers 69 bettle has just a racing seat and bare floors. The car weighs 1620 with him in it  that and does low 11's

I like creature comforts, ass hauling, and being able to tow with my "race car"....

teh tracks would only require a properly mounted rivers seat, a seat belt for teh driver, and a firewall. you will also need whatever NHRA safety stuff is required for the mph/et you are planning to run.
