View Full Version : Need In-put on a new car
Theres 2 cars for sale im looking at. 2001 Camaro Z28 A4, silver, with 44K miles going for $15,900 , and a 2001 Camaro SS M6, navy blue, with 56K miles going for 17,999. Now, my mom knows the manager at the dealership selling the Z28, so I can get a really good deal, maybe a grand knocked off the price. Im gonna go take a look at the Z tomorrow after work, and the SS sometime Friday. What would be your suggestions. I can care less if its an auto or manual, I just wanna get the better deal.

If insurance is going to be an issue, which it usually is in New Jersey, best bets would be the Z28, but your not allowed to have silver.

I would go with the SS cause it is a little rarer. But if that doesn't bother you than choose the car that has the tranny you want.

Personally I would go with the SS  . As for as insureance goes they will be the same they both come up as a Chevy Camaro Z28 with a 5.7L V8 on the insurance forms.

I would go with something way cheaper unless these come with mods or a reach-around.....JMHO

They're both overpriced by at least $2K so definitely work on knocking them down. There's a ton of 2001-2002 Camaros for sale so shop around.

not necessarily, but that's a different discussion. the public's perception of what a dealer owns a used vehicle for is typically exaggerated.
i'd go for the SS if money is not a factor in the decision - it is a more rare vehicle, if that matters to you. and you're allowed to have whatever color you want  .
work the deal, regardless of where you end up, until you are happy with the outcome. you have to live with your decision to buy at whatever price, so be sure you can handle it before you sign. don't succumb to pressure by the salesman to sign "today" regardless of what he says. if they are willing to work a decent deal and no one else looks at the car while you are thinking about it (away from the dealership, btw) then they will do the deal at the numbers arrived at no matter whether it's today or next week.
Yea im gonna look at the Z28 in a few minutes. I was thinking the SS as well, cuz money really isn't an issue, and neither is insurance. I prefer an M6 but A4's are good in my book.
If money and insurance arent an issue, why would you even look at the Z? I'd go straight for the SS!

#1: I can get a better deal on it cuz my mom knows the manager
#2: Its a lot closer than the SS

it really depends what kind of driving you do. with the roads up near you i would definately prefer teh M6 for fun driving.
if you are going to be headed in and out of cities a lot an auto is always easier to drive.

Well, they dropped the price of the Z28 from $15,995 to $14,595... and my mom talked with the manager today... he said he may knock off a couple bucks... so Im going down there at around 7:30 to hopefully fill out some paperwork :-D
Tim, Roxbury isnt like Sussex county... its definately turning into a Parsippany/Livingston with all the new malls being put in. lol
So I hope selling my Pro/Am on ebay and my WS6 outside my house helps alot, cuz we've got somewhat of a small driveway, and 3 Fbody's will not help my situation
*EDIT* Almost forgot the ad lol... btw I thought it was silver, but its Peuter

Id try to get it down more than that. My dad could get it down lower than that and he doestnt even know the guy. For example the vette he bought they wanted 35000 he got them down to 30000.

Hrm...I thought thoes prices were a little low for LS1 cars. I saw a 2000 SS go for 18,5k around here. I figured that you cant touch a 2001-2002 SS/Z28 for at least 20k.

Dam, who was dumb enough to pay that much for 2000 SS? That's impulse buying for you. They made a ton of SS's the last couple of years so it isn't hard to find them for sale.

i would get a SS cause you'll be kicking yourself in the ass for not having the SS hood and the M6. not to mention the blue is pretty sexy.

*shrugs* 4th gens, or Camaros for that matter, are few and far between around here. This is mostly 5.0 land, and I hardly ever see a LS1 Fbody at a dealer for less then 18 unless its got a butt load of miles.

I thought the 5.0's were extinct until I went to the Jackon Outlet cruise night!

They're not extinct, but there is one that will never see the road again (mine  ). Don't worry, the population is dwindling ever so slightly.
