As some of you may have heard, SAE has a new way of rating hp. GM has had to rerate most of their cars upwards, i.e. Z06 went from 500 to 505 and the TB SS went from 390 to 395. Not HUGE jumps, but its up...which is more then I can say for Honda...

These are the new ratings for Acura's line up...

http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=384913

RL: New horsepower/torque ratings: 290 horsepower SAE net (Rev 8/04) at 6200 rpm, 256 lbs-ft torque SAE net (Rev 8/04) at 5000 rpm (Was 300hp 260Tq)

TL: New horsepower/torque ratings: 258 horsepower SAE net (Rev 8/04) at 6200 rpm, 233 lbs-ft. of torque SAE net (Rev 8/04) at 5000 rpm (Was 270hp 238 Tq)

MDX: New horsepower/torque ratings: 253 horsepower SAE net (Rev 8/04) @ 5800 rpm, 250 lbs-ft. of torque SAE net (Rev 8/04) at 3500 rpm (Was 265hp 253Tq)

RSX: 155 horsepower SAE net (Rev 8/04) @ 6500 rpm, 139 lbs-ft. of torque SAE net (Rev 8/04) @ 4000 rpm

RSX Type-S: 201 horsepower SAE net (Rev 8/04) @ 7800 rpm, 140 lbs-ft of torque SAE net (Rev 8/04) @ 7000 rpm

And Toyota

Toyota Camry:

4-Cylinder: 154hp/160Tq (was 160hp/163Tq)
3.0 V6: 190hp/197Tq (was 210hp/220Tq)
3.3 V6: 210hp/220Tq (was 225hp/240Tq)

Now, most GM vehicles I have seen have either stayed nearly the same, or have been upgraded.

i doubt the power has actually changed, i bet they just changed the RPM that it was rated at.

i've had to carry the GM torch at school.....i have a bunch of Ford guys and a ton of Honda guys in my classes. My two friends and I are the only GM faithful in the group, and I'm th only one who stays up on the latest news. I had to singlehandedly take on the whole class the other day, when someone argued with me that the Mustang GT is a better buy than a GTO. they said "the price of the Mustang makes it better." i told him "you find a Mustang GT for less than $30K in this area, and I'll agree with you. You can get an LS2 GTO for $30K with the GM employee discount program." he brought out the "Car and Driver" BS, with the "price as tested" being $26K, and the GTO $34K. I told him first that Car and Driver licks Ford's ass, just like every other car magazine out there, and second that I'd take a $34K Goat over a $26K Mustang any day. the battle still rages on....but I'll still fight for GM. I was rubbing this story in everyone's faces today.

The discount doesn't include the GTO anymore.
Also, here's an article comparing the 2 and look at the score. It's 211 Mustang over 210 for the GTO and that's including just about EVERYTHING. Weight it differently for yourself and the GTO could easily be the winner of the comparison.
