it is different things to different people.
to me a show car is an all around nice car. rims/paint/interior/stereo/engine all factor in. i am more into racing, so i tend to look more closely at pro-street and pro-touring style cars that the phat rims and systems pieces.
i am also a huge fan of clean survivor/resto pieces. it takes a lot of pride to preserve a piece of automotive history. especially when you consider that some of these guys are spending $100+ to get the correctly stamped NOS oil filter to make their cars truely 100pt factory.

wat did jon say???
Im with Tim. I think the perfect show car would be a clean engine bay with no grime, gook, grease, etc. Some mods are ok in my book, but the interior has to be extremely mint, with a nice stereo system I.E. two 10's and 1 amp matched with a good headunit. Must have a nice looking exterior with shiny paint, no major scratches, and a matching set of rims.

I put a lot of time and money into building my system. There's nothing like the sound of an LS1 with a cam and full exhaust. I love to crank it up every time I row through the gears.

Cam'd LS1 > ICE
i have to agree with that. if we were at hot import nights, or if we all drove imports ( no offense to peope who worked on their own systems and stuff) it would be a completely different story. But many of us are performance oriented so I look for more performace mod..
but who am i to say wanything, i couldn't even make it..stupid car.
btw... turbo Ls1 > cam'd Ls1

I'm with that. I used to avidly show my pickup, before i sold it. The truck sat in my garage untill show time them after went back in the garage under a cover. As a show vehicle it was NEVER driven as a DD. I had much more than just a stereo and wheels. As far as F-BOdy's go the show should be under the hood. Those cars are classics and IMO the body mods should be left to a minimum. Your car was nice though.
Here are a few quick pics of the truck Â*http://photobucket.com/albums/v720/jimmyboy8301/S-10%20ZR2/

I guess I'll add my .02.
IMHO, I think a show car should be a blend of everything. That's the idea. A balance of performance mods (engine, suspension, whatever) and asthertics (stereo, interior, paint, etc).
If its a show car then all aspects of the car need to be taken into consideration, not just what's under the hood. If you are performance oriented, then concentrate on those mods. If you like stereos or lights, then install to your hearts content. But don't neglect the rest of the car. If you have an awesome paint job or 1000 watt stereo, you better be able to keep the hood open. If your engine puts out 600hp, the body shouldn't be an eye sore. Again, we are talking show cars...not track cars that hit an occasional show. And to reiterate - this is my opinion.
Although my performance mods are minimal (more coming - I swear), I have made sure to touch all areas of the car - interior, stereo, brakes, suspension, engine, exterior, lights, etc. Ive done the racing thing in the past and eventually I will put this car on the track, but that's not my primary use for the car. So why a performance oriented car for shows? Why not - I grew up drivin Fbods (see my sig) and never had a 4th gen. What better way to go out on top. Besides, I will eventually do a performance engine or F.I., but for me its bragging rights and to keep the occasional modded Stang or rice burner at bay.
Of course, to each his own.
As for the poor or biased judging, I've been there as well. Ask NJWitchygirl. We were at a show in Washington Township and this guy had a 25th Anniv Trans Am...it was his wife's car...and it was filthy, especially under the hood...oh by the way -> 0 mods. He won Best Pontiac that day...and I was teh jackass putting "tire wet" on the wheels in 100 degree heat. So I feel your pain
And one last thing I would like to touch base on - what the hell does "Best of Show" class exactly mean? I keep getting different explanations and keep seeing the wrong car get the award. To my understanding Best of Show is a car that has all the areas I mentioned above attended to and the presentation of the vehicle is taken into consideration as well.
Someone clear this up for me please?
OK - enough of me babbling....

It was towards the end nearest the gate. It was blue with white stripes. Very nice looking car. I noticed a sub box in the back.
