i was driving up rt. 287 tonite, on my way to hang out with some friends. I was in front of a Honda Accord, when i noticed a set of headlights coming up quick in the right lane. This was near Mahwah, where 287 becomes 2 lanes. I was doing about 80 MPH, so this guy was doing at least 90, by my judgement. I don't like people who speed excessively (sounds kinda hypocritical, but I don't do it when there's people around), so i switched lanes into the right lane. The guy got right up on my rear bumper, as the Honda began to pull even with me. The tailgater then jumped to the left, thinking the Honda would pass me. Wrong. I kept pace with the Honda, keeping the tailgater boxed in. He high-beamed the Accord in frustration, but I kept right along with them. This continued for about a mile, until i saw a car in my lane that we were coming up on. I sped up, and the tailgater (in a Plymouth minivan) followed my lead. i switched into the left lane once I passed the Honda, as did the minivan. still not finished with this guy yet, I slowed down as I got even with the car in the right lane. the Honda high-beamed him, as I kept doing brake checks. Eventually, the right lane opened up, and the minivan sped off.

however, this isn't the end of the tale. I didn't want to let him get away, so I followed the minivan. As luck would have it, he was getting off onto Rt. 17, where I was headed. I caught him near the exit, and proceeded to pull away from him around that long-ass turn to get back onto 287, and from there onto 17. He tried to keep up on the turn, but there was no way he was going to do that unless he wanted to flip the thing. I continued on my way, with him in hot pursuit. once onto 17, he got right behind me, following my every move. i sped up, getting into the open left lane to pass a slow-moving car. he followed me as I went back into the middle lane, and got right up on my ass, so that i couldn't even see his headlights in my rearview mirror. I'd had it, so I stepped on the brakes. he made a desperate dive to the right, narrowly missing me. my exit was coming up, so i got off as he sped away.

now, i realize this may have not been the best way to deal with things, but it made me feel better. and had he run into me, it would have been his fault, and he would have been screwed.

Next time they are on your ass, just downshift...dont use the brakes to slow down. It pisses them off more. Plus its not as fast of a slowdown so you dont cause some stupid accident.

eh still not the best way to handle things....easy way to get into an accident or get hurt....what if after swearving to miss you he came around front & did the same to you & you smacked into the back of him? Who's fault is it then...dont get me wrong I've got involved in the same kinda **** but it rarely serves a point or has a good ending for the both of you.

i usually only mes with tail gaters when i am bored. most of the time you will se it pisses them off plenty if you just stay in your lane and maintain the steady speed that you already know is too slow for them.

What I usually do is find the next tractor trailer and box the tailgater in next to them, then slow down so I'm just ahead of the truck and the guy cant go anywhere. I've had anumber of truckers play my game with me.. its a lot of fun :)

I was driving along a wide backwoods road one night and some assface was like literally a foot from my bumper at about 50mph... I tapped the brakes a few times to give him a warning but he kept at it so I hit the brakes HARD. He locked his brakes up and swerved, lost control and spun around in the middle of the road about 3 times coming to a stop on the shoulder. I stopped about 1/8th mile up the road to make sure he was alright... he turned around and went in the opposite direction.

It was probably one of the most ballsiest things I've ever done while driving. He got exactly what he deserved.

I have one better than this where they REALLY got what they deserved...
So last week I was cruising the new car 206N through my town coming home. There was a cement truck infront off me that was TALL but he was doing 50mph which is the speed limit! I was impressed and stayed a clean 4 car lengths behind him. Then this ricer pulls up behind me right on my tail. Keep in mind this is an 06 car, not exactly cheap so why would somebody tail me, I just can't understand it. Also, this part of the road usually slows down to 40mph going up a slight incline but the cement truck was doing FINE. Needless to say I was rather perturbed (what a cool word) so I did the 3 quick brake light flash but NOTHING. This person was oblivious to any gestures and I couldn't do a brake check or they would run into me. So I was feeling pretty crappy about having to let this ******* get away with it when all of a sudden, at the light right before my turn-off something amazing happens... it turns yellow. I didn't notice it turn yellow until I was practically in the intersection so it turned red while I was in it. While I noticed that I just went through a red there was a cop passing me going the other direction and I was like ****. In montgomery they have nothing better to do with some amazing grace the tailgater behind me REALLY blew the red light. I was thinking this is going to be great... and it was. I then put my blinker on to turn off onto my road and the tailgater followed. Before I turned onto the road I noticed the cop was in the shoulder facing the wrong direction coming after him/us. So I slowed down a little to 25mph. The ricer then turned into my neighbors barn driveway where I do most of my car work. I kept going and got to see the cop chase the car down! It was AWESOME. I'm sure they got some tickets and the best part is that the barn's are owned by the former Mayor of our town and my Mom had been Mayor/DM/police commisioner a few years back so you KNOW the cops laid it on thick. It was gratifying to say the least.
There, that's the story. Hope it didn't bore you guys but I thought it was worth posting after reading this post.
