Had two friends deployed over the last 4 days. One is now in Kuwait City (fortunately) to load and unload cargo ships as part of the Naval Reserve out of Ft Dix. The other is career Air Force out of California, who was put through the Combat Life Support training course and embedded with the Marines in Iraq. He -thinks- he'll be in southern Iraq. But I think only the Army works southern Iraq, and the Marines are still street fighting up north. He'll hear a thousand rumors of where he's going between his flight to Riyadh yesterday, and hitting the ground somewhere in Iraq tomorrow (with a layover today in Kuwait City).

Air Force NCOs with the Marines as Corpsmen? WTF is that?!?

So as if my life wasn't difficult enough with a wife and three daughters, I now have two other wives to help out if needed, with one of them being in California and without any family out there to help her.

The Military must be truly desperate for people. And I think this truly sucks.

tell me about it. My best friend went to Iraq TWICE w/ the marines, another friend w/ the army. I interviewed a guy to work at my job back in december and he worked two days before he was like im going BACK to Iraq for round 3 because hes with the Marine Reserves, and he left a fews days after new years. This sucks man....hope for the best thats all anyone can do for whoever is over there man.

Thanks guys. Haven't heard from either one yet, so still waiting on the mailing address.

Those of you considering to join, I would encourage it. Just don't be surprised by the stories they tell you about what you'll do and where you're going - only to find out they were outright lying. Goes with the territory.

i think they should go ahead and institute the draft. i know of several youngsters that could do with a little discipline (and more that could use a break and come home for a while). only problem is that they would have to fund it, and i don't think the people would allow it.
