View Full Version : Anyone watching the weather with the hurricane?!
Ok I been watching the storm reports all day here at wokr and its just plain crazy down there. They are estimating up to 1 million people may be homless after the storm. Reports are saying, all gas stations going north are running outa gas so cars are just being left on the sides of roads. Then, the reports of the refineries down there getting wiped out they are talking gas prices sky-rocketing over $3.00 a gallon afterwards, I mean man come on I am peeved already that it cost me $36 dollars to fill up the Trans Am yesterday! And to top it all off, did you know that the Bush family makes around $40 million dollars everytime the cost of a barrel of oil goes up $1 dollar, and the cost has gone up like $30 dollars a barrel in the whole time Bush has been in office, so he is a nice billionaire!.... Man I feel bad for all the SUV & Truck drivers... its just plain going to suck! Anyone else want to chime in on whats going on with weather and gas prices?!

On of my co-workers has a sister that goes to Xavier Univ, and she just called her from the Superdome (that's where they are housing evacuees). She said that the flood waters are up almost 20', and the buildings are all taking lots of damage. The eye of the storm hasn't even hit them yet, so they are in for lots more.... :(

Lets all take a moment... to blame the Louisiana Purchase ... what idiots would build a major city below sea level? Other than that, I hope everything turns out for the better in New Orleans.

i jsut saw teh news. man that is a lot of water. 25ft storm surge + high tide + 4inches of rain.
there was even an oil rig that broke away and is now lodged under a bridge. they usually bolt them down pretty good, so i thought that was rather impressive.
the superdome has some damage to the roof, but nothing is coming into the building and no damage to teh structure. so the 10k people inside shoudl be ok. i think it does suck that they have to stay in the bleachers. imagine being a kid with a football staring at that field and not being allowed within 20ft of it.

O Man I feel bad for all the SUV & Truck drivers
Your telling me, it cost around 600 bucks to fill the tanks on the semi I drive. roughly 2.69 average diesel price per gallon. Twin 140 gallon tanks ..... get out the calculators! Luckly my company pays for it but it is sickning to see it.
