Thoes are some of the worst 60 fts I have seen. Unless it was raining out last night, that is horrible.

yeah that is pretty bad, i cut 2.2's with my FWD
he has over 300K miles on the original motor and trans. I'm suprised he made it to the end of the track, let alone three times!

was teh car spinning or bogging off the line? those short times are horible.
for the mileage you have your trap speeds aren't too bad really. most tbi cars when new trapped around 85ish, so you are only 2mph off on that one run.
get practicing and tuning on that thing and bring it to grudge day at island oct 16th :)

your 60's are horrible...you should at least be in the 2.20-2.30 range even at your power level...get those down & you should be able to cut some low 16's at least.
I know its not much, but what kind of power can the stock TBI unit support up to? I was thinking (just for the time being) taking one of my 4bbl manifolds, putting on a 4bbl to 2 bbl spacer and just running the stock TB/

tim was probably putting down 250 to the wheels with a stock TB with the fins machined off...he was running 14.1's with it I believe...na.

You mean the fins on the top? If so I ported thoes off.

while you are at it get yourself some gasket material or another gasket and some longer screws to move teh injector tower up a little. it will allow the fuel cone to be spread wider as it accelerates through the tb, better fuel atomization. that makes better throttle response.
it will also create a larger space for air to get into the tb without the interference of the injector tower creating a little bit more high rpm flow.
the stock tb and injectors can easily handle over 300hp with correct fuel pressure and pump.
you have to make an adaptor to put the tbi unit on top of a 4bbl intake. it does not bolt down teh same as a 2bbl carb.

Something like this right?

If I just do the intake, would I have to tune it? (I dont know how much the computer in these cars is involved)

Chevy used a TBI adapter on the 1990 454SS pickup trucks. They pop up on Ebay and they have the Q-jet bolt pattern. You should be able to grab one off Ebay for under $30. Matt might still have his since he changed over to the Edelbrock TBI intake.

that is a good adaptor koll.
jeff brings up an excellant point though. teh big block manifold adaptors work good on any intake with a q-jet pattern. only problem with the is they are very tall.
if you can get your hands on some 1/4-3/8 thick aluminum plate you can easily make an adaptor that will work in an hour or so and not spend $40bucks.
i will see if i have materials around. if i do i can get one together for you.

That'd be cool tim. And just for clarification, a big block manifold would not work. I assume you mean a reg. carb manifold.

i meant the adaptor from a big block tb. gm used a standard q-jet intake with a water donut adaptror to put tbi on. i have a fwe of those donuts around but they are at least 2 inches tall.

Glad to see you running the car Koll, but damn. My '91 Lumina (3.1/A3 with 184k miles) cuts low 2.4 60's all the time. Your car must be bogging off the line bad....
