Here's a story for you all.
I was driving home from my girlfriends place this morning down in Ewing at about 6:45. Was gonna go home, eat, shower, and come into work. Well I got about 5 miles from her place to the light on 31 for the Pennington Shopping Center and traffic was backed up....odd for that early. As I get closer to the light I see a dumptruck stopped in the right lane and a car in the grass to the right of it....I figured they must have had an accident. As I get closer, all of a sudden two guys come tumbling out from in front of the car wrestling each other on the ground! They were beating the hell out of each other. As soon as I saw this I pulled my truck up onto the grass, grabbed the big Maglight I keep in it, and got out. I pulled the guy on top off by his belt and told them both to break it up. The guy from the car had his lip split open pretty bad and was bleeding all over everything. The guy from the truck was still trying to go at it with him. Luckily someone else had stopped after me and called the cops. Long story short I had to stay there for about 15 minutes trying to keep these two apart until the cops got there.
The sad part is that probably 2 dozen other cars atleast passed right by them before I pulled over and nobody stopped to break it up or stopped in general for more than a look! What's wrong with people today? Sad to see this is what the world is coming too.....everyone is so consumed in their own affairs and so desensatized to violence that they don't even break up a fight between two grown men in the middle of the road.

Ha thanks. It just gets me that so many people just drove by...even my parents told me I was stupid for stopping because they could have had weapons or something.

some people see those things 2 ways. your way where u pulled over and was being an onlooker who decided to help out and break up the fight. there way is that there too busy to stop or there affraid a weapon might surface and they may become the victom. what u did i see as being right i think u may have possibly saved someone from a wrongful death. who knows just be thankful none turned on ya. great job by the way. bruce

Heh - If I saw Paul walking towards me with a big ass mag light and an angry look on his face my first thought would be to run, not try to find my gun.....

People dont wanna get involved in someone crap, and why should they? If those two are dumb enough to fight each other on the middle of the street then why the hell should i do anything about it. its their life. Next time you are trying to help someone might a pull out a gun and shoot you. How would you family feel about that?
Dont make me tell you a story how my moms friend was shot in brooklyn, and she was just trying to help :( She had a 5 year old son by the way...........

people are too wrapped up in their own **** to care about anyone else. they adopt the attitude that it's not their business to get involved.
when i was much younger and still had my back, we were in philly watching the parade on new years. one of the girls in the group had relatives that lived in philly and didn't mind a bunch of hoodlums showing up at her house on new years, so we went religiously for a few years. anyway, coming back from the parade, we see a scuffle on the other side of the road. some guy is getting creamed by three other guys. when i saw that the dude had passed out, i had had enough (and i was then close enough to help). before i get to them, the larger of the three had kicked the guy on the ground in the head. all you heard was a dull thunk like someone dropped a watermelon. long story short, my friends and i kept them from beating on mr. defenseless-and-passed-out and waited for the cops to get there. once they knew what was going on, they thanked us for getting involved, saying "no one wants to get involved these days. you probably saved this poor schmuck's life". that was 25 years ago and it's only getting worse.

Of all places, Rt 31 in Pennington is the last place I would expect to see this. Now I know why I enjoy having an 8 minute drive to work. Save on gas and save on the stress of driving with all the other maniacs on the road.

when i went to egypt over winter break that was commonplace. its was as traditional as filling a police report. basically how it worked was: if i hit someone, i either had to pay for the damages that the other guy estimated, or get your ass kicked. thats the reason why we have insurance in this country.
fyi- i only saw one fight during my two week stay though, i was kinda dissappointed

Hahah.....well in a society where it was expected this would be a different story. Don't get me wrong I'm all about kicking someone's ass if they deserve it but there's a time and a place for everything. And when it's happening in the middle of the road in broad daylight someone should stop it.

I agree that most people would probably not want to get involved. Not everyone that drove by that day had the ability to break up a fight, be it physical or mental handicap to do so.
Personaly, Id pull over, sit back and let them duke it out till they exhaust themselves to where they pass out. Free fight, and made my day better.
So far, havent seen any spontanious fighting going on around here, but where I live....there aint no ****ing way Im gunna jump into a fight unless I'm coverd in Kevlar and packing twin 9mm's or large assault wepon.
