all you have to do is pay between $20,000 and $35,000 markup...
Thats right $100,000 for a vette... so says a couple of the dealerships i do work for.
I cant believe the nerve these f*ckin dealers have. :banghead:

Law of supply vs demand.
ALL dealers do it.
Get a high demand vehicle..... be the first dealer to have it.... crank up that price!
First SLR went for 2.1 million... msrp is $450,000

only thing dealerships have to watch out for is what happened to the '04 GTO. they went along marking them up thinking everyone wanted teh car so bad, then they figured out that if your options are a $40K pontiac or a $36K vette that is faster, everyone will buy the vette.
the first wave of cars will easily sell with the mark up. after that it will be back down to sticker price or below. just like the C5 Z06 was.

Just to make sure that everyone is aware, there is more then ONE Chevy dealer in the US. There are plenty that are ready to deal with MSRP, but if you want to be the first on your block with one, be prepaired to pay.
The GTO was a different case. Enthusiasim was overhyped for the car, which made dealers hike up the price of the car, when most people had a problem with its design and forced some people on the fence about the car to look elsewhere.
The 2005 GTO's sales are outstanding, and outside of ONE month of Employee Pricing, it sold out for MSRP. Now, was it the 400hp and bigger brakes, or was it that the inner-ricer in all of us wanted thoes fancy hood scoops?

I like hood scoops :-(
I'll wait a year. Personally I dont care how possibly well designed a car is I would never buy a first year run of any cars new model. Even if it was only going to be made for one year, Id get the last of the batch. THEY always have some problem garunteed.

when the '04 gto came out i was all hyped to get one. then i couldn't find a car for less than 7k over sticker. even to the point gm started offering all kinds of special rebate offers to try to move them off dealer lots those retards were only taking the gm discounts off of their previously inflated prices.
the new Z06 will be no different. for a few months it will be outragiously expensive until some dealerships come back down to earth.
seeing it as supply vs demand does hold some water until you realize that the demand side is responsible for where pricing goes, not the supply side. only time it can work the other way around is if it is a staple good that can't be lived without(ie: gas/oil)

Id wait a year for any new model year. Thats what I mean. And when people ask me what my next car is I'll lie that its a z06, but Im waiting a year (then so on & so forth, because Im not actually getting one)

There were plenty of places to get one for MSRP when they first came out, I know of 2 in my area.
The same thing is happening with the HHR and Solstice right now.
What will be funny is trying to watch Saturn try to play with the pricing of the Sky and Aura.

I understand that but considering the position chevy (and GM for that matter) are in why not be for the people (like the corvette has always been) and sell it for even $10,000 over... im not saying dont mark it up, but jeez-uss.
also if you have 450,000 and are considering an SLR... 2.1 mil for the car is do-able too. Cars like that are toys to their owners...

Anyone buying a Z06 doesnt just have money, they want a performance machine. SLR is nice, but is still slower then the Z06 at almost 1/8 the price. Z06 isnt just some "Corvette" with fender flares. While I dont agree with mark ups, Toyota does it with great success with the Prius. Do you know that you cant touch a USED Prius for even MSRP when it was new?

i hear that toyota dealers are now only selling fully loaded Prius's because of the damand at the moment. at least thats what one of the dealers around here said when my friend's dad went to buy one last week. 8 month waiting list and you have to purchase every option
