Sooo.. this weekend we finally got my new motor together after i vented the other block. Its another 440 block, stroked to a 540. Haven't had it on a dyno, but its about 2 tenths quicker than the other engine. Same heads are on it as last time, thats why it hasnt picked up more. Everything else is brand new and "industructible", including a Callies crank :)
Here's my best time from this weekend. We were chasing around what we thought to be a fuel problem all weekend, and it turned out to be a bad high end chip. Once we took it out, problem solved. woot!

she says "industructable" like we don't all know where this motor is headed at some point next season :P
congrats on getting it back together and the times. looking forward to seeing it in person sometime soon.

wow, thats crazy, so final verdict is the cylinder wall collapsing? and i guess the msd pill failed during the burnout, overreved the motor? good to hear its back in action and pulling its best et's yet though

Yes, the cyl wall collapsed and blew up that engine. We found out afteward that we were approximately 100 hp over the max the engine could handle.
The msd chip was actually having the opposite problem, so it had nothing to do with why the other engine popped, just why we were pulling our hair out this weekend. It was a 7400 chip, and right around 6800 rpm the engine would start popping like it was either too lean or too rich, so we were chasing that all weekend. Finally we thought that maybe the chip went bad, pulled it out, and it ran fine, going thru the traps at 7k.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I won my class on Saturday, the first time out with the new engine :D Hopefully its a sign of things to come.

I've heard of it before, there usually not precisely accurate either. They're just little circuits so there's bound to be trouble eventually. I only use them for limiters in the burnout and top end. All shifting is done by my delay box, its much more accurate

Its the mega block. Still Iron, because Aluminum blocks cool off too quickly to be consistant for bracket racing. The mega block is supposed to be hella thick. Hopefully Tim's ability to be like Nostradamus is off.. by a lot. This engine cost almost as much as a full year of school, and student loans wont pay for it
