I was with First Trenton, paying $4,390 per year for full coverage on just my Camaro with no points at 20 years of age... so I finally got sick of it and gave Progressive a call... for 1 year it would cost me $3500, so I was like "This is great, lemme call around some more". I called Geicko, and now I'm paying $1190 per 6 months for full coverage... ****ing great :-D I saved alot more than 15%, i saved around 50% :-D

It depends on your area not just driving record. My dad is an adjuster for Geico, so I get a discount plus what geico saves me. Costs me $80 per month for the IROC on liability.

car insurance is a ripoff around here IMO. When I lived in Atlanta it was 600 for the whole year. Paid it off in one shot.

I've actually gone to every single company for a quote and they're all pretty much the same  I suppose its because this is the first year I have insurance under my name... I was paying $325 a month but my policy is now $277 a month... so I guess if it keeps dropping every 6 months I cant complain.

Insurance in NJ is a joke. My insurance droped since I bought my camaro and Im paying $684 every 4 months, so Im paying $2,700 a year on one car! I had 2 points 3 years ago, and I took my drivers safety thing and the state points have been dropped along time ago. And thats only with Liability, Unisured Motorist & a dumb personal injury that had to go on.

I hate NJ insurance.

Where do you guys get the money to pay that much for insurance and for the car? When I was 20 all my money was going to paying college and books so I had to buy a 17 year old car for transportation. That's crazy to pay more than $2000 a year no matter what you're driving. And you should have full coverage as well.

i have had my own insurance since i was 20. i just started getting hit with my higher ins. it went up about 50 bucks a month so i know pay almost 250 a month , it was about 200. plust had to send the state a check for 125 bucks for recieving the six pts, now every additional pt is another 25 bucks extra.

There's an age difference here Jeff. I was the same - get full coverage, pay for school, have just enough left over to take the girlfriend to dinner OR a movie. Had to be friends with a few frat guys to enjoy the drinks without paying.

People nowadays do the bare minimum. No long term planning. I bet if they wiped out some judge in their car while street racing, they'd wish they had full coverage.

Amen to that. I pay $500 a year on my Firehawk, too. If you have another car that you can get around in, Classic ins is the way to go.

but do you hate car insurance? Â*why don't you tell us how you really feel?

i just saved my step-son $4000 a year by putting his car in my name and listing the car under my insurance as a pleasure vehicle. i told him no speeding tickets and no accidents. we'll see how it works out.

now, there are those that would say i am committing insurance fraud. i don't see it like that. i see it as saving $4000 a year. sure, if he wrecks it we're in deep ****, but he's not had an accident with his car yet and he's been driving it for two years (knock on wood). insurance in this state is a joke. how the hell does an insurance company end up in debt? the hundreds of millions of dollars that get paid in premiums and they're going to say they're in debt? :kneeslap:

I don't think it's fraud. A lot of people do it, because there's no way for the insurance company to know who is driving the vehicle, unless there's an accident then they can question.

Thats the setup I have. My jeep is in my moms name (perfect record) and its under her policy. I can not be insured in the state of new jersey, unless I want to use New Jersey High Risk Insurance, and I'm sure as hell not doing that!

******....we'll leave it at that :x

no, I've gotten a lot of tickets in my high school years. I lost my license for 7 months dues to getting tickets while on probation, and since it was more than one ticket wile on probation, I am a "repeat offender". I got pulled over for street racing once, but was fortunate enough to get off with just a speeding ticket. I'm pretty much f@#ked until I turn 25 and the insurance starts to go down, but its not gonna go down that much :?

he just came off of high risk and companies like Geico won't insure him. he shopped around and the best he could get was $900+ for six months. he's a good kid and doesn't mess around when he's behind the wheel.

it's a shame it's a japanese car, though, as this is the first time i've "owned" a jap car. other than that, i am glad to help him out. i only hope i don't get screwed in the end.
