Um..so i need new tires soon and stuff. Right now i got some 235/55-16s on there. And i looked at tire rack and they had like the crappiest selection of tires for that particular size. It also states that there's "Original Equipment Optional" i assume it was from the dealer when you bought the car and the size is 245/50-16 and selection is so much freaking better. So the simple queistion is, they will fit, right? i just need reassurance i dont wanna shell out couple of hundred bucks and not use the tires

thanks dudes.

245/50-16 is the correct size, def. go for those, thats what i and pretty much everyone else with stock wheels has 8)

yeah the 245's will fit no problem. That was the stock tire size for my old 87 GTA too. fit like a glove.

245 will fit fine. Â*On the 93/94 the standard tire was a 235 H rated tire. Â*The PEG II option got you 245 Z rated tires. Â*I assume that this is basically true for the newer cars as well.

Try discount tires direct. Â*

I'm currently running Nitto 555 perf. tires and I'm very impressed with the handling and wear from the front tires ( I have DRs on the back ).

For the money I think Nitto and Kumo tires are the best deals around.

Im running 275s in the front and 315s in the back

No rubbing or anything but its really to much tire, so the next time i have to get some, theyre gonne be a tad smaller. They are sumitomo (sp) HRZ or something, and they are real nice tires tho..

Another vote for khumo too, i had the 712s on my 89 ws6

16 x 8 wheels...

wouldn't 275's be able to fit? correct me if I'm wrong.

and if not what is the widest you can go on 16 x 8's.

I think you could squeeze a 275 on there, but the tires would bulge quite a bit.

Well I have traction TAs and a set of Kumhos. Granted my car could probably hook on a wagon wheel, The Kumhos I think are garbage. My traction TAs usually never break traction. When I launch hard i get a little bit of spin, then they hook. The kumhos spin a little more on the launch. If I race from a roll the traction TAs will only chirp a little whereas I can put the kumhos up in smoke. Just ask j0n he witnessed it first hand. As soon as I finish these Kumhos off Ill be replacing them with Traction TAs again since the first set were just ruined at the track last week.

i love my yokohama avid v4s's...you gotta work to break em loose in the rain and i've cut 2.0 60's on em at the track with no burnout 8)

who has 16" wheels anymore??? lol j/k

i think all 4th gens can easily take a tire width of 275 all around if matched with the correct sidewall size. my SS has 275/40/17, so if you drop a wheel size i think it would work out to something like 275/45/16.
my friend had 255's on his 88 iroc, they looked good as hell and fit the rear wheelwell perfect.
i have 295's on the rear of my vette on the early stock style 15" alloy rim. a little buldge but not ugly or unsafe.

i dunno if everyone knows the meaning of the tire numbers, i didnt when i first got into cars, so ill just post what i was told. for example 275/40/zr17...275 = width, 40=% aspect ratio of sidewall to width, and of course 17=rim size. correct me if im wrong though.

Im running Sumotumo HTR's on a 17x9 & 17x11 Rim
275/40/17 up front
and 315/35/17 out back

When it comes time to change the fronts Im going to see if anyone makes a 275/35/17 for the fronts. On my car if you stare at it you can defenitly notice the fronts are taller then the rear tires! According to the original Corvette Grand Sport specs they originally ran a 255/35/17.

During the winter I use 245/?/16 Bridgestone Potenza Z's Their good for "all season tires" great in the rain, but I had alot of problems with them in the snow. Im going to probably invest in a set of Blizzaks for the winter and mount those on the Salad Shooters.

If your intrested Tsar, Im thinking about selling my Bridgestone Potenza's off my stock wheels. They have under 8,000 miles on it, because their were fairly new when I bought the car. Theirs still plenty of tread left on them. their 245/?/16 the right size for your stock wheels.

If your interested I'll give you a price, I'' even toss in one spare tire that is a little worn out but I keep it for a back up. so thats 5 tires!

Those things are garbage but for somereason everytime i do a burnout i think the tread depth gets larger...they will NOT go down for some reason and I smoked the crap out of them on sunday!
