need some quick help (damn rain)

k, so i get into my car before...and its awfully humid in there. hmm, why could that be? maybe because theres an inch + of water sitting in the passengers side footwell, running down from behind the dash. Now i assume this is the drain passages somewhere under the cowl, and that they need to be cleaned out? How in the hell do you go about getting in there to clean them? i soaked up as much water as i could for the night, but its still damp as hell, and if it rains more it will surely get wet. any help is appreciated

When my trans am was retaining water, it actually was comming from the wiring harness behind the pcm on the passenger side. When I ran wires for my guages, water was seeping through the grommet, so I took clear silicone and went to town with it on both sides. All dry now, After i pulled the carpet and let it dry for 3 days.

if your car has a sun roof there are two channels in the front the sunroof with drain tubes that run down the pillar and drain at the rocker panels. alot of times leaves, dirt, etc, will clog the tubes and cause it to leak. i would find the tubes, (might have to remove interior pillar molding, and sun visor and pull the edge of the headliner down to find it) and run some compressed air through it to blow the **** out. i would also peel the carpet back and let it air dry. another spot to check is your cowl. your best bet is to have a friend soak the car with a hose while you check to see where the leak is coming from and chase the problem that way. good luck with it , water leaks are a pain in the ass.

use bucket to check if its plugged be4 u take it off. it should run out the bottom like u just popped a hose. once u find that it aint draining, take the cowl off, and find the drains, use a pipe cleaner and push thru.

k well i dont have a sunroof so i know its not that...im gonna pull up the carpeting and spray a hose down the cowling and see if its coming in there, if not i might have to put the weatherstripping back on along the top of my hood if its leaking in by a wire grommet.....thanks for the help, off i go :x

It ended up being the drain passage, right before the water exits the car, it goes down into the front corner of the door. In there, i found a nice deposit of dirt and stuff that seemed like sand built up in there, and the insulation was what was holding it in there. But i also noticed it running down from behind the dash...so i went to work finding that. A little while later after putting the hose in various places, i found out that the weatherstripping for the blower cage was coming up a bit, so i pumped that bitch full of silicone and called it a day. heres some random pictures before my camera battery died

Peeling back the carpet...there was a nice lake under there too. On the right side in my driveway, you can see the dirt that came out of the corner of the door.

and there it sits with the cowl off and one of the wipers off - what a pain in the ass. you can see my garden hose there for testing purposes :lol:

theres a few writups on clubgp about this & the a/c condensor problem...my a/c condensor drain i think is clogged but i dunno where the hell it is so i havent fixed it yet but every time i turn on the a/c for more then 10 mins i start to get a puddle very similar. On a side note its very dangerous to run a power wire outside of the car..where your door jam is...i did that many moons ago before i knew better and literally started a fire...not fun...just a heads up.
