Pretty damn lame.

Firefighter for 13 years.

Pilot light on boiler went out.

I went to relight it.

I had aired out the basement... I didn't want any stored up gas to ignite...

I'm trying to get it going.... all of a sudden the basement door opens due to wind and WOOOOOSSHHHHH!!!!

(btw, I have a raised ranch, basement is on the ground).

Fire engulfed my entire head. I couldn't see for a bit.... staggered out... contacted boon, he picked my ass up and we went to hospital.

Eyebrows, gotee, eyelashes and hair is all burned. All I smell is burned hair/ me right now.

My lungs are fine.

My eyes were checked out and not burned (they dye tested them.... so my eye's are yellow now).

I'm in a sh*tload of pain. Burns are from top of eyebrow to lower cheek.... doesn't seem like it will be that bad..... Just a flash burn.

Got pekocet's to take.

Nurse hit on me... I told her I was happily taken

So, I think I'll take tomorrow off..... obviously ain't going to work today.... This sucks!

james and genie are the two most accident prone people i have known in my life. i have to admit that i am surprised it took a month of living in that house for one of them to have a story taht included a trip to the hospital.

Oh, and btw, it took 1 month, 2 weeks, and 2 days. ;)

I was lookin through the catalog from dad's work (industrial supply warehouse), and they had those signs "It has been ______ days since the last accident..." signs...I said we should get one. ;)

So true.

Well.... now I know how to get to the hospital :)

This ER doesn't know me well enough yet.... my old ER (Pascack Valley Hospital) had a wing named after me.

Percocet + beer = a numbing feeling

wow that sucks. hope it all works out ok for you.

I'm pursuing firefighting. Going to either John Jay or University of Maryland to study fire science then going on to be a firefighter hopefully.

This winter I'm hoping to join a volenteer fire department in either little falls or verona.

p.s.-you think the firefighters in your house might rip on you a little for this

John Jay, go there.

Get on a voli dept right away.... if you want to become a paid fire fighter you will have so much more experience over all the others when applying, trust me. I was offered a paid job on Montclair FD... but turned it down due to current job.

My dpet make fun of me..... MY GOD YES!!!! To make matters worse.... I went to the schools for fire prevention week... taught the kids not to play w/ fire.... then was at the open house this saturday at my fire house... still teaching kids/ parents safety w/ fire.... and a couple days later... i set myself on fire!!!!!! I'm an ass!

I know John Jay is a better school but John Jay would force me to live home and I'd rather go away.

I really want to join a volenteer house but my days go 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM monday through friday so I barely have enough time to get things done as it is. If I don't join now I almost deifnately will once summer rolls around.

plus I can get those FD plates and a permit for blue warning lights :headbang:

DAYUM! Guess it's a 2 way street of pain...it coulda been worse, but ya still got burned...
Next time ya do anything like this gimme a call. I'll stand by w/ an open can of Diet Coke to douse any flames...

PS: I have alot of respect for fire fighters. A couple years ago my furnace caught on fire, and thanx to the speedy response of the local fire boys there was only smoke damage. They def did a good job. 8)
