Yes, ladies and gents, the 1972 Camaro RS that I went to go see in early spring has finaly reached its home!!
I went with my mother and met up with my grandfather today in York PA. We talked about the car, what was done to it and how he has maintained the car. Also, what was needed to be fixed and any potential problems it might have.
So this is the final deal
It does NO LONGER have a 307 2bbl carb, which I kinda figured considering the Edel carb and intake.
It IS a 350 motor, but its rebuilt and doenst have a whole lot to it. Mild mild stuff, maybe 200hp. Installed less then 300 miles ago.
Tires are deffinatly need to be replaced. At least 10 years old.
Oil needs to be replaced, duh
Rust needs to be delt with as well as the paint on the roof is thin.
Belts need to be replaced ASAP as they are annoyingly squeeling now.
Plans are very simple. I want to get a set of nice Rally rims and put some bigger tires on it. Long tubes as well as a full dual exhaust for the sound.
I need to get the basic things done before I take it anywhere.
The car rides and handles great. I love it!!
YES! More second gens!!!!! :D :headbang:

i was thinking of some nice TT2's, but they are mucho expensive. I wanted to go with a classic look and go for a set of Rally wheels. A friend of my gf knows where he can get a set of them, so I think im gunna do that.
Picutres should be up soon, but its raining...and the cars outside...
I need to clean out my 2nd garage!!

That's what I meant, the TT2. They are all over Ebay for decent prices but still not as cheap as some old rallies or the 70-81 5 spoke Z28 wheels(they look better than rallies on a 2nd gen).

If you're gonna get ralley wheels, make sure you get the corvette ones. the camaro ones are 15x7 and 14x7. the vette pieces are 15x8 8) I used to have a set of vette ralleys on my second gen, looked AWESOME!!!

Good move, but Im only puttong on a set of 215/65-15's, so even a 15x7 will do.
i eventualy will probably do more.
ONe thing I did notice is this
I filled up just outside of York PA. 15 gallons of fuel, 93 octane.
Drove home 2.5 hrs(Penn pike, NJTP, 195 and Rt 18)
Then drove to work, later that night I drove to my girlfriends, then around town for about an hour.
Woke up and drove it again to work and back tonight.
I JUST hit half a tank of gas....
This is my new nice day daily driver.
it probably has 2.73's out back

hey Al, you should spend some time cleaning up the paint on that beast. get a clay bar and some polishing compound. I bet the paint will shine up pretty well.

No, im in a contract with Chevy for 3 more years, so that would be hard and costly.
I HAVE been driving the car every day to work so far, and boy do I love it!!
I really would like someone that knows more about carbs to take a ride with me and tell me what is going on.
I took pictures today when work died down.
I also looked up exhaust parts too. Looking at Hedman Headers, Elite Ceramic Coated LT and Magnaflow's Stainless dual exhaust. First I gotta get tires and wheels for this thing, as well as a tune up.
Here are the pics I took today..

awesome find... the color really adds that muscle car look
Looks great man. It would look a little better if it had a spoiler though
and whats with the wyoming plates?
I just remembered that I think I have a few trim rings sitting around from when I had the ralleys on my camaro. I'll look around for them.

So did mine, but I think they were the first part of the car I removed. How are they installed? Srewed into the fender lip?

It would look great with a short spoiler in the rear, some nice 17's with 275's out back and 245's up front. But I know where you are with not wanting to spend money. As for exhaust, check out www.Pypesexhaust.com for some decent options.

And if you like what you see there, contact the exhaust guys, since I beleive they sell Pypes systems.....

Tall spoiler > short spoiler
besides, the short one was only put on early 70 1/2 cars, after that it was tall or nothing. You can thank Trans Am racing for that 8)

let me know when. it might need a rebuild, as the seals and what-not are probably as old as the car. i've got that nice new vacuum/fuel pressure gauge, too.

nah the carb is only a few years old. Its an Edelbrock carb, electric choke on an edel aluminum intake.

i have one of those on the '87. if it sat one whole season with no gas in the carb, the seals can shrink and not perform like they should.
you didn't say what the symptoms were.

No real problems I guess, I just dont know what it would sound like if there were problems. No one seemed to hear anything the other night, and if they did, they didnt say anything.
BTW, the OTHER new car arrived yesterday. 1981 Ford Brrrrrrronco. This is THE truck of trucks. Its bad ass...Ill have to take pictures asap.
