You can skip the first couple paragraphs if you know what Emo is, and what store i work in.
For those of you who are not already familiar with me, and where I work, I despise the style known as "scene", "scene-ster" or, better known as, "emo".
Short for "emotional", and based off of "emo" music, (dashboard confessional), "screamo" (hawthorne heights) and, post hardcore emo (As I lay Dying) these problem children derive their style from that of the band members of musical groups like these, and imitate it to the best of their ability, but because they cannot afford professionally taylored rock star slim fit pants, the boys often buy girls pants. (HOW DO YOU FIT YOUR JUNK IN THERE?!?!)
Well, anything to keep these kids from reproducing.
Anywho, I work at Delias, a popular junior girls store, that targets mostly middle school girls, up to highschool, college age. And yesterday, a boy came in and decided to buy GIRLS PANTS. And so it begins....
This boy had a (what you guys would say) MILF for a mom, and she must be VERY understanding, aside from being stylish herself, because her son had dyed black hair, must have been about 16 years old. Haircut was short in the back, long in the front. He looked like a pixie. And he wanted to try on some girls jeans. His mom asked. "could he try these on, or are only girls allowed in the fitting room?" I told him that there was one girl in there, and he could wait for her to leave the fitting room area, and then it's ok. But, I offered to ask the mother of the girl in the fitting room, if she would mind having a boy in the area there, so that he wouldn't have to wait outside. When I made this offer to the boy, he gave me the EMO ATTITUDE:
*flips hair out of his eyes with a quick whiplash style twitch* "Psssh! No. *flips hair again* That would make me look gay. Ugh!" *flips hair*
Immediately a reply came into my head, but because I was working, I could not tell him that it was already "too late" for him to worry about that.
He tried on the jeans and his mom brought them up to pay for them with 5 pars of underwear, one thong, the rest in breif cut, nd all of them in the most boyish looking colors we had. There were also 2 of the same pair, but in two different sizes.
COULD IT BE???
His mom was getting some underwear but the rest were for HIM.
again. HOW DO YOU FIT YOUR JUNK IN THERE.
I hope his sperm die.
His mom started to hand him the Delias bag, and while he put his fur hooded sweatshirt back on, he flipped his hair and refused the bag, "pssh. No I'm not carrying that"
Poor girly pants boy would be too embarassed to carry a bag that says Delias on the side.

haha thats great, i see kids like that all the time around my area and I just want to kick them in the head repeatedly. even my GF will make comments to them if they walk by, its great.

I love how they all wear girls clothes and makeup and write in livejournals on the internet...and they all do it to be different.
If they are all doing the same thing, they are not very different are they?

Dont even get me started, it pretty much is right in line with what Ian said, I blame it on MTV.
why care so much? i mean maybe its just me but i generally dont give a **** what other people do. If you wanna jump of a building be my guest, if you think i will cry over it, you are dead wrong. In fact i'll probably the first person to point at your body and say "what a moron". If they wanna make out with other emo fags, well that just means that there're more girls for me to do. If they wanna be fags, let them - darwin will take care of them. But then again everything stated above is my opinion and you might disagree so no need to get you panties in a wad.

:huh: WTF is wrong with kids nowadays? I'm glad I don't pay any attention to music or bands or current trends or styles because that's friggin messed up.
Seriously... what the **** happened to the youth society? When I was in my freshman year of high school... everyone was a "hardass" , there was always fighting, picking on the nerds, and shoving kids in lockers. Hell, I was a freshman and I was shoving other freshman into lockers :lol: . Now, my senior of high school, the entire freshman class were EMOS! I agree with Alex... MTV is definately to blame, as well as KROCK for playing that ******

Im driving down a road in my town, and all i see are EMOS! The ones where their throwback beetles haircut is covering their eyes and cant see the path in front of them unless they do the female hairspin. Im not racist, but I would prefer a school full of Chinese kids than a school full of EMOS. I can tell almost everyday that when I see an EMO and I preceed to scream "Ya ****ing tooooooool!!!!!" that it still doesnt help. Society sucks. I shaved my head for a reason... a PROTEST!
The reason I hate them so much is that ****ing haircut if you couldnt tell

It's more off an offshoot of Punk, Goth is a whole different thing. A lot of people say it started with bands like Fugazi, although I think Ian McKay would be quite pissed to hear that. I think Emo bands are really just modern/progressive rock bands. But these dumb kids are trying to claim them as their own. Emo: short for emotional, code for lame.

I love Fugazi. Ian McKaye would kill somebody for saying his music, especially Minor Threat is 'emo'. Minor Threat, along with Gorilla Biscuits and Youth Of Today really started the whole hardcore scene. Fugazi is more of a skater punk band. I think it really became it's own thing as an offshoot of hardcore like 15 years ago. Punks would not allow such homogheyness. A lot of kids I knew that crossed over into kinda the emo scene listened to bands like Young Pioneers, not that their emo, but thats where the bridge is, the crossover.

Minor Threat definitely wasn't emo. And it's crazy to think that it came out of hardcore, but that sounds right. In my mind Fugazi will never be emo, but they definitely had a sound that didn't fit into the typical hardcore and punk scene of that time. Like I said, I think they were more progressive. They had elements of different styles of music, but they had their own edge. But I don't think I would consider them skater punk. To me that's more along the lines of bands like Bad Religion.

I dunno, when I was a skater I listened to Minor Threat and all that DC punk. I know it later swtched over to a lot of Pennywise and OC punk for the younger generation, 311 was never big with my crowd. Fugazi is Fugazi and they just kick ass.
IMO this whole EMO thing started when people liked the image of punk/goth but were to scared to listen to anything harder than the Smiths(I'm not calling the Smiths EMO). Then when the east coast image met the west coast pop-punk somewhere in the mid-west, they had sex and got pregnant. They tried to abort it but the operation got botched. The result was a bunch of guys with no wieners. Since they had no wieners, they got confused and put on make-up. When they went outside, everybody made fun of them so they cried all the time. Since they were physically unable to play sports, they wrote songs. One MTV executive had the unfortunate experience of birth one of these once fabled creatures and played his songs on TRL. That "shim" was the lead singer for dashboard confessional. The rest is history.

yup, thats him. Candice turned into a real bitch soon as she turned 14 (I'm guessing you knew them when they lived in clifton and she was in 5th or 6th grade?)
All this emo ****, I'm glad I graduated when I did. It was only a few years ago, but when I was in hs the rap scene hadn't hit all that hard yet, people still spoke english in my high school and there was no such thing as emo. Not so much anymore.
I can deal with thug gangstaz... but I have a zero tolerance with emos. I just want to punch them in the face, plain and simple :-D

The closest thing to emo music that i can listen to is poison the well, but even that gets old after a lil bit cuz its song after song about lost loves and bitching about it. Before fall out boy got big, they had a huge HC following, and rufio is in that too....dashboard and lifehouse, o man, listen to some super joint or norma jean, let those testicles decend brotha!
j/k though, what someone thinks is good music and is willing to stand by it, i respect that.

Im going to go with Emo, because they wear girl pants. At least goth kids wear pants 10x's larger.

I dunno... they both have their Pro's and Cons... both have some sort of suicidal thoughts, but the goths usually have scars. :lol: Then theres appearance. You can definately tell a gothic guy IS one indeed, emos look more like girls. Then theres hair styles. Id personally like to take a pair of rusty hedgeclippers to every haircut I see that resembles goth/emo, thats just me. But I have a few gothic friends from high school i still talk to once in a while cuz I get along with almost anybody with the exception of full-blown goths and emos. At least Goths have some sort of personality, as speaking to an emo is like talking to a bag of ****ing dirt.
Thats just my 2 cents.

Ill take goth over Emo for the simple fact that they listen to better music, and really put effort into looking the way they do most of the time... that goth **** is expensive as hell! Emo **** is 2-3rd hand stuff. :lol:

Ill take goth over Emo for the simple fact that they listen to better music, and really put effort into looking the way they do most of the time... that goth **** is expensive as hell! Emo **** is 2-3rd hand stuff. Â*:lol:i once saw a hot gothic chick once... thats the end of my story. :?

Emo evolved from skater punk stuff. or de-evolved, one would say. It makes one wish for the days of the true punks (Ramones, Sex Pistols, etc.), the guys who could smoke, drink, and kick your ass all at the same time.
Emo bands are nothing more than cookie-cutter versions of each other, modern-day boy bands with bad haircuts and even worse musical skills. Most of these guys can barely do the tried and true three-chord formula.
The music itself seizes on the insecurities and rampant hormonal imbalances of teenage kids. Pick any emo song - every emo kid will tell you that it somehow relates to their life, whether it actually does or not.
What really gets me is that the guys who write/play this **** still call themselves "men." Men don't cry about their problems. Men don't wear girls' clothes. We wear 12-year old stained t-shirts and jeans with holes in them from manual labor, not an $80 pair of pre-ripped jeans you bought at some designer store. We don't say a goddamned word about emotions, unless it's anger. Want to solve a problem? don't write an acoustic song about it. Punch the other guy in the face, fight like hell, then after it's all said and done, grab a beer.
while i'm on a rant, WTF is with the emo/punk/hardcore "windmill" mosh pit thing? You've all seen it - a pit forms, people bashing each other, and one retard starts flailing his arms about while spinning around like a top. usually a few kicks are thrown in for good measure. While doing this, they aim for someone on the edge of the pit, usually intentionally trying to punch/kick them.

that's not the way things work. in a mosh pit, you hit people with your body, not your fist/foot. and if someone goes down, you pick them back up. somewhere along the line, the emo/punk/hardcore kids lost this code of behavior and became ********. and yet, it's accepted as "normal", even "cool" in some circles.
and who said they could use the "devil horns?" last i checked, that sign was heavy metal's, not the crappy emo band's that plays at the local high school. i can understand if the hardcore guys use it, since they're harder than the punk/emo scene, but when i see a bunch of 14 year-olds doing it at a dashboard confessional concert on MTV, there's something wrong.
Eventually, emo will be replaced by something else, and we'll all have that something else to rant about. for now, i'm done.

it could be an evil plot by women everywhere to pay us back for the girl-on-girl stuff that's been turning us on for years. two girls kissing? hotness. two guys kissing? :barf:

I didn't know what an "EMO" was...... I put them in the huge category of FREAKS!i agree... every time i see a kid with blue hair or a mohawk i just wanna slap them
