For the 72, im looking at headers, and Ive narrowed it down to Hookers Comp headers. I dunno if I should go for the 5/8th or go balls out to 3/4?? Which one!! Is it worth the extra cash for the larger headers?

If your not planning more mods in the future then 5/8, but it you think you might do more then go with the 3/4. You don't want to end up with headers that are too small for your mods and sell then for pennies on the dollar just to rebuy the bigger headers.

I have thought about putting on a set of Vortec heads perhaps, and maybe a larger bump stick...but not sure if I want to do all that. As it sits, the car doesnt move much, and I want more power. Im thinking 1 3/4 thinking ahead..

this coming from the guy that went to do a heads/cam swap on his camaro & never finished lol...why is it you get 4 guys telling you 1 5/8th yet your going to go with 1 3/4 thinking ahead? lol I honestly dont think the 1 3/4 will make much of a difference unless you really do alot of **** to the motor...vortech heads(though very good) arent really a huge mod in that they are still stock heads any way you cut it. Unless you are going to a rather large bumpstick i just dont see that motor needing larger headers. But hey obviously my opinion doesnt matter

First off, I started when I was still going to college in Mass. I really didnt have that much time to work on it.
2nd, with a carb, there looks to be less things to break.
3rd It was my first time with no one helping me and zero knowlage
4th I didnt devote all my free time, as many of you do, to fixing the car.
and last but not least, I DID finish it, I just kept breaking bolts and got sick and tired of fabbing up stuff to make the PS pump brackets work.
so **** you Bill
ANYWAY, I figured that it wouldnt be much difference, but now that I look at it, I rather be safe then sorry and spend the few bucks now instead of spending it 2 times down the road.

if you are looking to upgrade i think you are on the right track planning for the 3/4's. i would suggest spending money on a crate motor if you want more power. for the cost of buying heads, having them cleaned up, buying a cam kit, and buying/matching your intake to the heads and cam you will be with in the price range of a GMPP crate motor with a 3yr warranty

I'd go with the 1 5/8's. 1 5/8 will support a ton of power... So long as you arent using a power-adder or making big upper-RPM HP you'd be more than fine with the smaller ones.

1 5/8 will be plenty unless you plan on going bonkers with 500+HP. In fact 1 3/4 may hurt you with loss of back-pressure.
