Headers / inspection

Well I'm automatically going to fail state inspection because I tinted my windows a lil bit.. so I'm curious as to the leniency at most private inspection areas. I know moving the cats is illegal, so long tubes would fail me, but do a lot of places care if you move them, as long as you have them? Basically I want to get some headers but I dont want it to be a pain in the ass every year to keep them.

well...what I did...my inspection was due in jan so i took my car in late late december...they gave me a sticker for 2 years January...then jan. 1 i did my header install so i had 2 years to really worry about inspection...since the life expectency for most of my cars is 10 months on average I thought that was a pretty good plan :D and what do you know I crashed it 9 months later :lol: generally though most, id say, private inspections dont care as long as you pass the obd2 tests, thats not to say there arent some out there that are dicks about it...but the fines they could face im sure are astronomical so they have good reason really.

I doubt a private facility would care, as long as you pass the OBDII scan, with the other regular basics their shouldnt be a problem. Thats why we go private ;-)

Heck, you could probably pass at the dmv inspection station as long as you have the dual cats. They just stick a mirror under the car to look for them and most likely they don't know the exact location. But I'm sure your tint will fail at dmv inspection so you'll need to go private.

I pasted at private inspec. with no front plate, long tubes & no cats... private inspec is the way to go!

hell, its impossible to see the drivers side cat on my car with a mirror, so I really they look to see A cat basically. My plan is to remove the drivers side cat, hollow out the passenger side cat, get O2 sims.

Then I could pass inspection ... :)
