power tour '07 long hauler...
that is actually the goal for having my car done. since it ends at e-town in '06 they will be leaving from e-town in '07 if they stick to the traditional route planning.

Would there possibly be room for an 85 Z/28 and a 89 RS/Z/28 (don't ask)? Definately been looking to roll through with them. Never had a large enuff crew... It's boring with 3 people..

12secondv6, harrisburg is 3hours or so from here i guess. i know where the farm complex is, that is where the SCCA national solo event i went to was.
we can shoot right across the PA turnpike from down here.
bigAl, i am with you in '07 for the long haul man. that is my goal to have my car 100% done. should be a hell of a way to take a road trip. no radio, no a/c, no cruise control, no power steering, no power brakes, and enough power to run 10's. no better way to travel :D

hopefully I'll be back in an F-body by 2007

hence the reason why i put '07 and not '06...
i'm figuring the '87 will be done by then, and we'll mark her 20th birthday in style.

this is very true. buying one is not really a problem. But once I buy it, it'll be up for sale fairly soon

That's not nice... You can't keep selling them off like that... They are gonna start rejecting you  It's all good tho... if you think about it... buy an f-body... Then sell the Jeep... you won't be able to drive if you sell the F-body... trick of the minds... Okay... I'll just stop now...
the jeep isnt going anywhere! 8)

i am gonna see about arrangements in harrisburg. considering the scale of what the power tour brings i think it would be a good idea to get our hotel arrangements taken care of ASAP.
i will see what deals the hotels have and everyone will have to figure out what their plans are.
i would think it woudl be easiest to drive out to harrisburg the night before, then stay over with the tour, and drive to e-town with them.
sound like a reasonable plan?

ok i feel dumb, what exactly is this tour?
NJSPEEDER
11-21-2005, 06:12 PM
Hot Rod Magazien does it every year. they start from where ever they ended the tour the previous year and then travel to a new location. over the course of the week long tour they have a car show every night and trips to the dragstrip and ****.
it is a pretty sweet deal, prolly the biggest car show to hit new jersey in a very long time.

we will have to work on getting both clubs together for this. we could put together one hell of an impressive group of f-bodies.
hopefully we would all be able to park together at the stops with banners for both clubs flying high :)

so is the turnout for this bigger than the gm nats in carlisle? cause thats pretty f-in huge.
NJSPEEDER
11-24-2005, 01:23 AM
it is a much better show field than the GM nats have ever had. and it is a show field full of actual driving cars, not the trailer queen show that carlisle has turned into the last several years.

you should motor the AMC for the haul. it is a much more UBG style car than the t-type.

not to mention that i expect there will be other t-types in the procession, but not another single AMX. he'd get in the magazine for sure. well, his car would. they might see him and run the other way...

Well, the prolly I would have for bringing the AMX on this tour is that it isn't going to be in a "finished" state. I would hate to ruin my chances for future coverage by unveiling it too soon. Believe me, it has been a lifelong dream of mine to have a car worthy of "full" coverage in the mags, and I'm getting too old to take a chance of screwing that dream up. N' just for the record, the T-Type ain't gonna be anything to sneeze at, 'specially once I finish up the "pro touring" suspension I'm working on...
NJSPEEDER
12-04-2005, 12:29 AM
what do you have left to get done on the AMX?
a pro touring t-type is a cool thing for sure, but it is still a much more common car than the AMX.
with how uncommon, strong running, cool looking, and just plain old bad ass sounding the AMX is i wouldn't even notice the ungrand national if they were sitting next to each other.
AMX = bad azz

Thanks for the props, but as far as "what I have left to get done on the AMX," well, for starters there is the matter of a somewhat legendary 32V 396 that needs to get built and installed, a whole new front suspension design that is still on the drawing board, a new interior that needs to be fabricated/installed, rear end work, a bunch of detailing, finishing up the "trans am series" paint job, etc. etc. It truly is a work in progress...
But hey, ya never know. If it comes down to driving the AMX or not going, I guess the AMX is coming out. :)

let me know what you need help with and i will be there.
maybe take the t-type to the power tour meet in '06 and concetrate efforts on having the AMX ready to rip for the long haul with us in '07.
to my way of thinking having the cooler car ready for the long haul is more important than what you bring to teh car show for one or 2 days.
long haulers get more mag coverage anyway.
