dont do it...i heard some guys lt1 car with what looked to be a pacesetter catback(saw the black/yellow tips) and it sounded completely ricey...and for an lt1 car thats real hard to do...my wife & I both agreed it sounded like complete ass.

I'm not saying that I dont believe you, but this is the reason I am looking for a sound clip. Some people say it sounds just like a Flowmaster but a little better, and other people say different. Thanks for your reply though.

Anyone else have some input/clip?

Ok, I guess I am just going to go with the Flow.

Get the Hooker cat-back. I had the Flowmaster on my old 93 and it sounded decent. But I've heard the Hooker on a couple of cars and it sounds the best for the money.

Ok I heard a clip of the Hooker exhaust, it wasnt my taste. I like the TSP Rumbler.

If you're looking to put an exhaust on a 6 cyl car, then forget about any soundclips from a V8 car, there's no comparison. Some of the exhausts sound ok at idle on a V6 but they all sound lousy once you hit the gas. So I would just go with the cheapest if you're looking to pick up power because none of them will sound good on a V6.

Yeah, I listened to a lot of soundclips on v6's today. No matter what I get, there is going to be rasp at high RPM's. The TSP Rumbler didnt sound that bad, probably one of the best. Plus it is cheap ($279 w/ tips). Flowmaster is $265 with 2.5" pipes, where on the other hand The Rumbler is 3". I hope to get my exhaust by Christmas, so I have another week or two to think of what I want.

I will reccomend Magnaflow, it's decent sounding, quality, and straight-thru

Yes I have heard Magnaflow. Doesnt sound bad. Just a bit out of my price range. If they knocked off a hundred bucks, I'd think about it.
Thanks.

You definitely don't need dual 3" tailpipes. I ran the Flowmaster with 2.5" tailpipes on my supercharged 93 Z28. Actually, my neighbour's friend has a V6 Camaro with a flowmaster and dual 3" pipes and it's horrible sounding. Listening to a soundclip of a car sitting there revving it's engine is no comparison to what the car sounds like while driving it under load. Believe me, this V6 Camaro sounds terrible driving away. Keep the tailpipes small and it won't sound nearly as bad. Big tailpipes are for :rice:

Isnt your car a 3.4? I cant immagine a 3.4 sounding any better then a 3.8. My personal Opinion, Kasey's car sounds GREAT at idle, almost exactly like my Z, but when he gets on it does get alittle anoying but its nothing compared to Jame's car!

If I had a 3.4, Id stick to a simple magnaflow muffler, or even a flowmaster, but I wouldnt bother with a cat-back.

Tru2Chevy

3.4 sound > 3.8 sound

60* v6s sound way better than 90*

They all sound like rice when you rev em up, but most 3.4 sound pretty good till around 3k RPMs.

The only thing that will help the rasp is a bullet muffler.

Did you find a clip of the TSP on an LT1 car?

Because thats the exhaust I am leaning towards but I haven't been able to find a clip.

Also I have a flowmaster muffler on my car now that came with the car when I bought it. I'm going to sell it when I get my new exhaust but I'm not talking it off till March or April because my car is already parked for the winter.

Just a thought if you felt like waiting.

The Flowmaster sounds good but its not the sound I'm looking for.

I'm either going for a Loudmouth or a Rumbler still undecided.

Joe 89TransAmWS6, has the TSP Rumbler on his 93 T/A. He also has headers but Ive never heard him get on it before so I couldnt tell you if I like it or not.

really, never?

Well, ill just hafta do that for ya one day then..

But i really love the rumbler..great system and not as raspy as a loudmouth.

The Rumbler is my favorite exhaust I have ever heard on the v8 and v6 on our cars. I am going with Flowmaster because it is only going to take $280 out of my pocket. Everything else is $400+. I could go the cheapest route and buy a Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler (sounds great), but I want the full cat-back. 3.4's do sound better than 3.8's. I am going to get rasp no matter what. So sorry to you Savage Messiah, I cant afford the $400+ Magnaflow.

11-29-2005, 09:37 PM
from the exhaust guys my magnaflow 15620 was 320, i dont knwwo what you'r talking about 400+

is the flowmaster stainless steel? if not start saving up for another one when it rusts through

you getting 2.5" or 3"

Exhaust Guys? Send me the link... The Flowmaster is Aluminized, good for the amount of time I am keeping the car. Both Flowmaster and Magnaflow is 2.5" for the v6.

Please tell me you didn't use the Magnaflow dual 3.5" ricer tailpipes! :rice:

that's what comes with the catback, I'm not about to go out and buy some new tips I have better things to spend my money on... plus they really son't look that big on the car. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/MoPMoonchild/Camaropics177.jpg

IMHO, those tips are disgusting, as in the most ugliest ****ing aftermarket tips that have graced an Fbody. No offense to you guys with the 3.5" , but chrome 2.5"s will look 2x as better, but thats just me.

i partially agree with noah, they look alright on camaros but look ****** on firebirds no matter what way you put it. once i get my magnaflow im gonna have the shop cut/take the tips off and weld on some chrome dual twins :D then ill be in business. IMO those 3.5" tips look about as good as the tips on my stock exhaust (the rectangular ****s), like kasey said he doesnt really care what his tips looks like and he has better things to spend his money on, me on the other hand, i think tips either make or break the car, i wouldnt mind spending around $150 for the perfect tips. right now i think my car looks great (aside from minor things that you dont notice from far away) my cars all bright red and the chrome is shiny then i look at my exhaust and im like D'OH! they look nasty and dont add to the car at all. im debating on what size to get for my magnaflow. what would sound better on my 6 banger 2.5 or 3?

what about that huge dent in your wheel? ;)

3 inch all the way cuz i know you wanna get on performance sooner or later

3inch would sound... like my car.

what about that huge dent in your wheel? ;)

if you think the rim thats on my car now is bad, you should see the stock rim that i bent up! it was so bad, that even if they put a new tire on it it wouldnt hold air! it also sliced the tire  and i dunno if i want my car as loud as yours kasey

obnoxious, loud, same thing.... and yes it is especially when everything in the freakin car rattles! for example the damn change in the cup holder which continuessly rattles! :-P this is for everyone that thinks kaseys exhaust is obnoxious would cuttin it down to a 2.5" instead of 3" make it sound better/less annoying?

NJSPEEDER
12-04-2005, 05:55 PM
not really. all that the tubing diameter really changes is the spm at which it resonates and it will effect the pitch a little.

if you are worried about your V6 sounding liek crap i will save you a bunch of money and time right now, it is a V6, it will sound like ass, to avoid this find the most silencing muffler in history and put two of them on the car.

on the other hand if you actually want an exhaust system that will support some performance gain you may as well go 3inch. the engine already processes enough air to take advantage of it and it will only improve as you add other mods.

Yeah, pretty much any aftermarket exhaust you put on there will sound like cat ****. but using smaller tail pipes might help out a little....might.

Brando56894
12-05-2005, 05:57 PM
ehh i already told my dad to get me the 3" (for christmas that is) so since im gonna be doing other **** to it then yea ill just stick with the 3 inch. this question has been on my mind, if you remove something that requires one of the "ready flags" (for example the cat) what will happen when it gets inspected? is that what bill does (or can do) in addition to deleting the code so it wont through a SES? cuz i was thinkin about getting a cut out but i already have the bullet muffler here, its just the option of which one do i want to use? also i remember a few of you guys (mainly alex) saying a cutout would sound liek complete ass. i like the sound of matts GP, is that what mine would sound like with one or nah?

speaking from driving aroudn open y-pipe for a day... it's fun and obnoxiously loud, but above say 2k rpms sounds liek AAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, and you get tired of it reeeal quick.

I will put it this way... even tho theres a cat bolted up for inspections, I have had it tuned out and deleted... they plugged in and scanned, all the readiness tests passed and my emissions passed.

you shouldve heard my car with open manifolds, lol

it sounded like an old school rat rod at WOT, and sounded cammed at idle...

and i dunno about 3.4's sounding better than 3.8's...the 3.4's kinda have a tinny hollow exhaust sound.
