over at FTV6 i was writing up a comparison for a noob on the different types of intakes for the 98+ fbodies, while browsing the FT perf. site i saw the intake i was lookin for and was like damn they really upped the price! (they wanted $376) it said that you didnt need to make any mods to your stock airbox setup to use a CAI, just use theirs. i figured, hey thats kinda cool for the ppl that have more money than brains or for ppl that are just plain lazy. i read through it quickly and assumed it included everything to get a working cold air system. i thought they meant that there was a precut hole in the bottom of the box for the duct, the duct was included, and they said they included a bigger vette K&N filter, and i saw that there was also a hi-flow lid on it. so i figured hey for $25 more you get everything all at once and dont have to cut anything, all you have to do it take the 4 bolts out, take out the old assembly and put this one in. i was about to finish up my **** on ftv6, and decided i should add links to all the **** so i went back to the fast toys "stealth cold air system" and realized that they wanted $376 for just the freakin airbox base, a k&N filter, and a hi-flow lid! the only thing that was different from the stock setup was it was slightly smaller and there was essentially no bottom to the airbox. the only reason i could see this being useful is for you weight nazi's *cough* craig *cough* but i cant see spending $376 on it... this just blew my mind.

I modded my airbox on the grand marquis. It has very little bottom now

Heh - I already hacked the everloving crap out of Craig's stock lower airbox. It's prolly lighter than the $376 piece they sell :)

But see theirs offers 2 way weight reduction: Not only does your airbox weigh less the driver does too. Less airbox + driver - 376 dollars = faster quarter mile times. See that's where the money goes. Proven reductions!!!!!!

LOL nice airbox. I gotta do that to mine too. Although i'll probly just bite the bullet and set mine up to accept a cone filter, then fabricate a heat sheild or something for it.

yeah, i attempted to make my 9" K&N cone fit...but the PCM is too big to fit anything. so im just running a drop in K&N, works for me
