The sleek new two-seater gets more power with the debut of the Solstice GXP, which features GM’s all-new Ecotec 2.0-liter turbo, the most powerful production engine in the Ecotec family. This turbo with direct injection kicks a V-6’s worth of power out of a four-cylinder engine, an estimated 260 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. It will arrive in dealerships this summer.

hmmm, i wonder how that motor would do in a f body. would be an interesting swap, less weight and v6 power...who knows. But would definatley be cool to retrofit into a early 80's camaro with an original I4.

lol, ok well then keep the duke AND put in the new eco-tech turbo motor as well, theres more than enough room. :-D

idk if anyone else read this... but sick as hell A specially-prepared Corvette Z06 will serve as the Official Pace Car of the 48th annual Daytona 500, on Feb. 19. With 505 horsepower, the Corvette Z06 is the fastest car produced by Chevrolet and GM. Because of the unique restrictor plate rule at Daytona, which limits airflow into the cars’ engines to keep track speeds below 200 mph, the Corvette Z06 actually makes more horsepower than the cars competing in the Daytona 500 – a first for a pace car.

AHAHAHHA!! Z06 could run Daytona, STOCK, then you could drive it off the track to go home. Thats awesome.

the ZO6 would lose, the suspension and tires arent up to nextel cup level. It would still be interesting though. Oh and what they mean by specially prepped is they put decals and a light bar on it. it doesnt need any other modifications.

I belive that the 02 CETA Also was a pace car, and required no modifications to the car outside of a light bar.

ws.6's are overrated. "ram air" - more like "adds extra drag"

edit: also, firehawk hood >>>>> regular ta hood > ws6 hood

thats pretty sweet about the z06 and IMO i think the ws6 ir ws9 hoods are the sweetest lookin hoods for a bird, i think the SLP HO and mecham hoods are fugly. the HO hoods nostrils are wayy too big for my liking..

I'm quite sure there have been several others since then that haven't needed other mods to pace NASCAR and IRL fields. I've seen plenty of NASCAR races being paced by SSRs and factory supercharged Monte Carlos, they should both be fine lapping ovals at 70ish MPH.
