39:4-36Failure to yield to pedestrian in crosswalk; passing a vehicle yielding to pedestrian in crosswalk 2

I didn't know they had pedestrian crosswalks on the turnpike! I don't think I would want to use them if they did.

It's leaving the scene of an accident, not just being involved in one. Basically if you hit someone's car , don't hurt them, and then leave, it's an automatic 2 points. If they were hurt when you hit them, then it's 8 points.

so you got a ticket for failure to yield or stop? how much was it? that info included on the website; how about a link?

this one gets me: 39:5D-4 Moving violation out-of-state 2 - if you get a moving violation ticket out of state, they automatically assess 2 points.

ill prolly have around 2-4 by the end of this month, depending on whether or not they throw the case of me backing into sum1s car at 7-11 then leaving cuz i didnt know i hit it (D'OH!) also on the way home on the GSP i got 2 more tickets. doing 85 in a 65 zone and passing on the right when i was in the left lane. how else am i supposed to pass someone? on the shoulder?

How did they manage that one? You were in the left lane, and they gave you a ticket for passing on the right?

exactly. when i got it i was like wtf? how did this happen? i didnt want to say anything to him cuz he was like i could of gotten you with 4 tickets but i only gave you 2. i have no idea what the two others could of been.

****** ASCII diagram on me on the GSP (read from bottom up):

|
[me back in the left lane]
| [me after passing the car infront of me]

[car infront of me] | [empty right lane]

[my car] |
[******* cop w/ bright lights on]
|

i dont see anything illegal about that at all, i signalled and everything. not like i can fight it, cuz then i would have to plead not guilty to the speeding ticket and that might get me into more **** idk....

you got back into the left lane after passing? why would you do that? you do know the law in NJ is keep right, pass left... right? i would've been in the right lane to begin with, but say i was behind someone in the left lane and then passed themon the right... i would've then stayed in the right lane, assuming it was clear (unless i had to pass someone in the right lane) eventually, i would've ended up in the right lane. i don't think he would've written that one if you had either stayed in the right lane or not been going 85 in a 65. once they get you on the shoulder of the road, it's all over (meaning they can write to their heart's content).

Yeah, you cannot pass on the right, only to the left.

No, my ticket was 79 in a 65 on the parkway, heading to thoes stupid north meets. I was just going with traffic since I was pretty tired from work, and didnt realize my speed, or my radar detector going off like a bat out of hell untill I saw brake lights in front of me. I was the last person in the group, so I got nailed.
I told him flat out I didnt realize I was going that fast, just keeping up with traffic (was in the right lane). As soon as I saw him turnon his headlights off the median, I just pulled over and waited. I thought maybe he would get someone else, but he just pulled behind me. Oh well, thats 2pts.

if they bring it up, fight it. from everything i learned about these motor vehicle laws, they apply ONLY to actions taken place ON PUBLIC roadways or highways. techically a 7-11 parking lot is private property, i heard they may be able to fine you but legally they can not assess points against you for it.

as for me and points, right now I have 0 on my driving recond and just 2 on my insurance record. :knock on wood: I got a speeding ticket in jan 2004 in virginia(i was watching 2fast2furious instead of looking for cops, lol). Every year you go without a moving violation, 2 points are removed from your license. Motor vehicle points stay with your insurance for 3 years from the date you were convicted or paid the fine, not the date the violation occurred. I paid it in Feb 2004, so in feb 2005 i had 0 points again, but with my insurance i had 4 then(2 points careless in sep 2001). 2 insurance points got erased in sep 2004, so two left, now i gotta wait till feb 2007 when those last 2 will dissapear.

thats why my parents think they pretty much kicked me outta court and reschedualed my date, which ofcourse, is during christmas break, 6 days BEFORE i go back to school  it pissed me off my appearance was supposed to be 1:30 i never got heard till 4:30! and i was the last one! the old bastard judge was nice to everyone, theifs, drug dealers, etc.. this one guy has $2k in fines and was in jail there for 2 weeks, the judge was perfectly nice to him. i go up there an hour later and the judge is saying all this stuff to me then he was like this happened on hamburg turnpike right? (when actually i was never on hamburg tpk. i was on ratzer road.) and i was like no your honor actually i was never on hamburg tpk. then he flipped out on me! he said to the public defender "i think this kid is trying to play games with me" after that it just got worse and he turned into an old bastard and pretty much kicked me out, after i sat there for ****en 4 hours! it made me soooo mad...

jims69camaro
12-28-2005, 08:15 PM
that was your problem. you had a public defender.

er, why a public defender in traffic court? the hit and run thing? how did you qualify for a PD, anyway?

Brando56894
