ive been thinkin about my baby of 2 years a lot lately...dont get me wrong, i absolutely love the car, its gorgeous, puts a smile on my face everytime i climb inside, girls love it, runs beautifully, it has its little quirks just like every car, but thats what makes it mine, but theres just sometimes where i feel like i need to move on....ive been thinkin of sellin it, but im not sure if anyone will ever take as much care for it as i did, **** like weekly 6 hour long details, oil changes every 2000 or less miles lol, during the nice months i go thru more tire shine than gas:p...and if i do sell it, it wont be to a kid who wont appreciate it, theres a point where money can change my mind, but if someone totals this car they better hope they go down with the ship:)...anyone else ever get this?

yeah... having a beater really keeps the zest alive. my camaro is parked for the winter and i cant wait to till spring, even after putting 20k miles on it last year.

Yes here and there, but now I know that from the accident damage I couldn't get **** if I tried to sell it so there's no point in even considering it :p

Well I love my car I will never sell it just to get rid of it, especially after the transmision being rebuilt and the new paint. I just get pissed off when people say **** about me having a 305 and wanting to mod it out when the "logical" thing to do is to buy a 350..But I cant wait for my 4th gen so I wont have to deal with that load of crap

4th gen... 3.8? ;)
i know the feeling, thats why i keep a high turn around rate of vehicles, hell i'm up over 50 so far in the 8 years ive been driving. lol. With my SS motor blown, i constantly think about selling it or parting it out, but then i think twice and realize its paid off, not in my way, and I want to build a sick race motor anyway, so then i decide to keep it. Now that im thinking about buying a house in 2 years, The money going to that 422 motor will be used for a down payment, but i'll keep the car, itll just take longer to get done. I will be selling my z28, v6 camaro, and possibly my bronco and s10 blazer, but my vette, iroc and ss will NEVER leave me, sorta because of sentimental reasons. If you are getting tired of your car, I suggest buyign soemthing else, a beater like said earlier. that way you can drive a second car and then really enjoy the T/A. I had a 93 T/A (hardtop, auto, red, ram air hood, leather interior, 111k miles)excellent condition, paid 2k for it and sold it for 3500...now the more i think about it, i regret selling it, so IMO park the T/A and keep it as a toy if you can have the room for a second car. As for insurances, my insurance for an additional car a year under basic liability is under $350 so additional cars arent a big finacial burden usually.

thats what i said when i first got my car, but the novelty has been wearin off ever since...it probably wont go up for sale for say, but if someone makes me an offer i cant refuse:), ill def. consider signing that peice of paper over
4th gens are crap...especially '01 SS's with a crack up the front of the stupid aluminum engine block....

i'd love to rock a beater and the TA...but everytime i walk past the TA and hop in my beater itll ruin my day...so basically i know i can only have one car at a time, because the TA will be like a crack habit, and from what ive heard crack isnt something most people do just every once in a while lol

Well I allready got it figured out
Any time from when I get my permit-liscence I will be getting a 4th gen either a lt1 or a ls1 no matter what its gonna be a manual. By then we should have a week end/vacation home In PA and I will keep the bird their and I will buy a cheap ass 86+ camaro and turn it into a show car and keep it here (edison)

so if you plan on having 2 different cars than the one you have now by the time your old enough to drive, why do you have the one you have now?
My personal take on this is if you cant have the T/A and a beater, just sell the T/A and get something else. If the person you sold it to doesnt take good care of it, who cares? Its not like the car is yours.
Dont get me wrong, I miss my GTA VERY much, but its just a car, it can be replaced.

While I understand not wanting to sell it, if you do, sell it out of state. 2 big reasons I didnt want to sell my 87 here was #1, I knew that the kid I was selling it to was gunna do great things for it, and #2, I wouldnt have to see it every time I went out for a drive.

Im a car guy so I get tired of my cars quick...my avg car lasts me 9 months...I've owned 13 cars since i was 17 and all were my daily driver at some point. And everytime I look at my backyard I cant but think to myself "I shouldve made the pad hold 4 cars instead of 2"

It's a normal thing. You do a lot to a vehicle to make it the way you want it and then suddenly one day you just can't do anything else to it. I've regretted selling some of the Camaros I've had but there will always be another one you'll be interested in customizing to your liking. The only reason to really get attached to a car is because you know what mechanical work has been done and that it runs great. The next car you buy might run like crap and you'll be thinking about the car you just sold that ran great. But in my 22 years of driving, I've never kept a vehicle more than 5 years. Most were less than 2 years.

Multiple times..... sometimes worse than others.
When I grenaded the first enigne.... that was tough.
When I lost an engine, tranny and rear in 1 calander year.... that was tough.
I'm still keepin it...... all the good times, just a nice cruise in the summer and all the magazine coverage makes it all worth it!

so if you plan on having 2 different cars than the one you have now by the time your old enough to drive, why do you have the one you have now?Because I dont want to get rid of it. I have put 1000 In to the transmision, 1800 for paint and I still HAVE car parts in my room that I cant wait to have installed My goal was to save a third gen from going into the crusher and I acheived the goal now Im just making it bad ass:-)

Probably because for the first year, I was 4 hrs away at college? And only really worked on the car durring winter break when I took it apart, and then the following summer where I worked and broke more parts then I could have imagined.

the thing is, what can i replace the TA with that still has some balls, looks pretty decent, and is as rock steady reliable as the bird?...sometimes i just think that the car attracts too much negative attention, especially at school and such

true but i had a 95 z that had 75k on it and i barely got 5500 from people and it was mint condition and was an easy 13 sec car. im kind of comparing that as a basis.

Paint it blue....way more subtle than a bright red T/A.

Ive been loosing interest every day. To much little things that are just building up that Im just to lazy to take a stab at. Lately since my girlfriend is home the car has taken a liking to sitting in the driveway. In a way its a good thing because Im preserving it just that little bit longer. But after I took it to work on Saturday and found a dent in my rear 1/4 pannel Ive been furious at the car and the mall. Ive always wanted to have a flawless car and I did for a while now its no longer virgin.

Exactly. I didn't get to drive the camaro till august (was using it as a DD prior to march), so I didn't really have it for the summer..but I had a lot of nice weekends to use it and every friday night driving to my grandmas to switch cars always put a smile on my face. Even sunday night or monday morning switching back to the T-Bird was nice because its a more comfortable ride. Both cars have pros and cons.

i used to feel that way about a show-truck that i had. then one day i found something i wanted more....My SS and new truck. and actually i don't miss the truck much at all. sometimes it's just time for a new project.

i've gotten tired of my car so many times i cant count anymore. its always for sale untill i go to the track or beat the piss out of it one night. that makes me change my mind quick. i'll let my car sit for a week or two with out looking at it, then get the bug and get bit again. its a repetative process.

the only time i ever got tired of a car, seriously, was when i was making payments. if i own it and it's in some state of transformation and not really in the way, then i don't even think about it unless i see some mod that i want to do. the '87 is on hold until i get the funds to do the motor. once the motor is done, then i will prep it for paint and hopefully get involved in the painting process. the '69 needs paint, but until i get a storage facility for it, there is no sense. right now the majority of weather is kept off of it (via the 'carport' tarp) but humidity is still a concern. i'd never tire of either of these cars because i own them.

i have never had any car payments, but can understand that they suck. its not that i want to sell my car and put money in the bank, or use it to pay off my bills. i want to sell my car and get a new toy. right now i am slightly considering selling it to fund a 64 chevelle project my step dad and i are working on. not thinking realisticly about this because i dont want partial ownership of any car i am sinking money into but would be cool. the car is probably now my favorite car. something about it is awsome.

I would say something more along the lines of 98-99 el es juan
i get tired of cars all the time. i can keep them for about a year and a half and then i start thinking about moving on. leasing was invented specifically with me in mind...

i debated selling the car before i did the rear and suspension this summer....i definatly get tired and frustrated with it.. i just close the garage door and drive home in my blazer...
having a beater definatly takes the pressure off
