Well i picked up my K&N fipk today from advance auto ($318.00) and put it in today.
went on very easily (45min) Looks great (very proffesional/factory looking).
Smooth precise throttle response , especially down the highway (int 295).
I am one happy camper!

hey ya know what...here's an idea...instead of the 14th do you want to set it to the 21st? http://www.njfboa.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13930 the club is having a meet that day about 6 miles from my house...we could do your tune from 9am-2:30pm then head over to firkin tavern & you can meet everyone :D
just a thought

sweet, i was thinkin about gettin one too but decided to go the FTRA route since it has a greater chance of delivering colder air :) i would like to know how the FIPK rates against the FTRA. the difference is prolly minimal, but then again the FIPK is prolly easier to install, since its only one piece (or maybe 2 idk) and you dont have to buy 2 seprate things (lid and CAI) also i could see how it makes the engine bay look a lil cleaner since you remove that huge ass airbox assembly (can sum1 say weight reduction? never thought of it that way)

oh lord what have we done?
i think he bought it at least in part for looks...he said something about being in car shows so im sure that entered into his decision as well.

yea that too considering you cant see the SLP/FTRA intake unless you take off the lid and the air filter :-)

And yes brando that is correct.
It took me a long time to finally settle on K&n and the ability to raise my hood at a couple of local car shows upcoming this year was the big motivator for me.
As far as a comparison between the FIPK and FTRA now that i have installed mine I can see where the FTRA may be able to bring in cooler air from its location but I feel the K&N setup overcomes this by being capable of moving a larger volume of air, and yes its true there is a weight reduction with the FIPK (probably wieghs less than half) But i feel that is still a minimal advantage.
My advice now, if you have made no changes yet the whisper lid is probably the best bang for the buck. If you have already gone the whisper lid/slp cai route id say save the $$ and stay with what you got.But if you want to "kick it up a notch" I feel the K&N is the finest set-up out there for us.

my camera has settings to take 4 different size pics...the largest & clearest is 700kb then 400kb then 200kb then 100kb...you could also just save the pics to your computer & right click-open with-paint, then just image-stretch/skew and resize it...if i use the 700kb setting on the camera if i shrink it to 40/40 and it should be within the 39kb limits here.

that was bill that said that but ill take credit for it anyway  its a sweet setup though, i think it would work even better if you had a ram air hood :)
