i did it, my spelling sucked, lol, oh well, i typed it fast. but they need to check their info and all, and update it more regarding making a new camaro instead of the parts that refer to when it was origianlly established(in like 97) to save the fbody before it was cancelled.

"Please join us in making it know that if General Motors bulds a new Camaro based on the concept unveiled in January of 2006."... known that if...if what...and..

"Please briefly tell how you feel about the possible demise of the F-Body in the space below. When your entry is complete, click the "Enter" button once. Note that we hope to have General Motors reading the entries, so please be decent and fair in your comments"...um yeah they need to update this...

they used the original "Save the F-body" petition for this one. GM isn't gonna see any of those parts, only what our responses are to it.

yeah i know, you just think they would have checked it over more, considering this conceopt was known to be coming out a while back. I hope GM does bring the car to production, and how they were talking at the unveiling, it seems possible.

Jason and Chris (the guys that run CamaroZ28.com) put this together really quick. they knew it was coming out, but this was kinda last minute.

Lutz seemed pretty optomistic about it getting to production. he talks more about it at his blog:

from his blog:
"And for those of you who might say, “Well, the Challenger has 35 hp more,” I would just reply that we have a certified 1OO more on tap from the ZO6 engine, should the need arise."

hmmm i wonder what motor an optional SS model could have...lol

so far (from my non-insider perspective) looks like we'll be getting:

base V6
base V8 (maybe)
SS
Z/28

not 100% sure about the order yet (but i'm hopin the Z/28 ends up top dog), but a base V8 (possibly called an RS with a 5.3L) doesn't seem to out of the picture right now.

I'm not sold on the looks of the car yet, but if they drop an LS7 in there, I'm taking out a loan!

:werd:

i vote:

rs-3.9 or 4.2
ss- ls2
z28- ls7 (detuned to 475hp)

i really hope they make the Z28 the high model again! forget you damn SS owners

edit: just read that GM needs to sell 165,000 units to break even on the 5th gen? forget it

GM can do fine with teh Camaro if its produced along side a sedan, so that they can adjust for demand. If sedan sales are up, and coupe sales down, they can produce more sedans then coupes and vise versa. Flexable production is the biggest deal. IMO, its in the bag. The car made a fantastic impression on EVERYONE there, and we all voiced our opinions on what we didnt like.
We also stressed the fact of a mid level V8. Be it RS, SS, or whatever, it needs to be in the fight with the Mustang GT's mid level V8.
I dont see the LS7 going in, but possible a variation of the new 6.2 liter V8 that is going in the Escalade, that is a half way stop of the LS7 and LS2. Dubbed, the L92 now, it uses LS7 head technology with its offset rockers, but the engine block casting is much like the LS7.
The 6.2 in the truck makes 403hp. In a high compression, performance car, 450-460 wouldnt be too suprising.

How I see the line up?
Base LS gets 3.9 VVT V6 making 260hp, mated to 6spd manual or auto, standard equipment like other cars in its class.
RS gets 3.9 base or 5.3 optional. RS gets lower ride, better gfx, better handling, etc etc, flash for not a lot of cash
SS gets 5.3 base, and 6.0 optional. Better brakes, better handling, flasher design, sculpted seats, and higher standard options
Z28 gets 6.2 standard with 6spd semiauto or 6spd manual. Big cross drilled brakes, large wheels and tires, advanced traction control systems, handling additions, aerodynamic additions
is sent into battle against Mustang GT in SCCA Grand Am racing, and perhaps other forums of racing.

I like that line-up :)

Yeah but you can't sell it two months later when the next butterfly floats past your nose. ;-)
