well with me getting ready to sell my 94 z28 and 95 v6 camaro, i may be in the market for a new project. In about a month hopefull i'll be ready to sell my s10 blazer as well. Tonight i may have found my next project or at least an idea for what i want next. Its an 82 Camaro Indy Pace Car. It needs basic restoration and the motor doesnt run and no title, but the last two problems I can easily solve. Ive owned trans ams, gtas, irocs, z28s, and formulas, but no car other than my SS really meant something to me and stood out in public as something more than a built up camaro. With a pace car, its more than just a camaro and has some extra history behind it. Hopefully the car checks out and I can pick it up for a decent price.

Hey now, it COULD have been a 1LE... ok make that 99.999999999999% chance it was... but hey there's still that .00000000000001% chance... :P

are you planning to do a pure resto of the pace car or a resto-mod kind of deal?
the thirdgen pace cars are pretty race to find in salvagable condition. if it is all there and numbers matching it may be worth saving and a pure resto car since the value woudl only continue to increase over the next several years.

if its all legit and mostly intact i would do a pure resto, if its not, im not even going to bother with getting it. so far the owner hasnt answered my questions about it, so i dunno.

oh man, I haven't heard that story. Anyway, that would be an awesome resto project, I've never even seen one in person, just in calenders and online.

We are 99.9% sure that Paul parted 1 of 4 '88 1LE Camaros. It was a non-AC, radio delete car, 305 TPI, 5 speed, same original color, and the one 1LE car that is unaccounted for was sold in Jersey (like the one he parted).

its not proven, lol, i think it was sold in nj, but that may be the point that sets it apart, i really just dont wanna find out. and besides, someone could have made it look like a 1LE before i got it eh oh well life goes on... lol but still no response from the owner of the pace car, probably realized how specific my questions were and doesnt wanna deal with someone who knows what they are talking about.

smokinss i still dont know if you remmeber me but i came to your house to see the 88 or 89 black camaro convertible that had no floors or sumthin like that......

is this blue 88 1le the one that was next to it that i was like it hasss all the makings of a 1le but not stamped 1le???????????????

i had the dark red camaro convertible when i came to see the other convert...

ah ok i remember, yeah the black iroc convert with the rotted floors lol, i sold it on ebay to a kid from toms river for 1k. But yea that blue car which was originally black, the more i took it apart the more interesting things i found. Apparently the previous owner started adding things to the car while he had it that didnt match up, like a/c climate controls, but no a/c box, and there was a compressor too, but on a junkyard motor. wrong wheels were also on it, it had 86-87 style iroc wheels. so i have no clue really, it may have been a 1le maybe not, it had the dealer paper plate under the license plate still but it should have been removed when it go painted, maybe just put back, i dunno, that dealer has been out of business for many years, so i cant find out anythign from them and at this point it doesnt matter, the car was stripped and junked and my official stand on the matter is that it was not a 1LE, lol.

and with this pace car im interested in, its on ebay, out by chicago, it ends while i will be in detroit at the auto show so i wont be able to bid last minute like i usually do. so i dunno, and now its been almost two days since i asked about rust and documentation and i havent recieved any response. so it looks like this will be a no-go.
