the solstice and saturn arent enough, no, not even butchering the stingray name makes GM flinch, now the kappa platform will undoubtably be known to be engineered by swedish design :tard:

Ill be honest, i dont know if this is going to come to america, the article is in french.

Two good things i see in this, they have a hardtop option blam right there, and they mention the v6.

Either way it wont be out till 2011 if ever if i read the damn thing right.

Umm, no, they won't make the trans am because Pontiac already has the GTO.

Not gunna happen. Its just that Willmington has SOOOO much capacity, and the 40k or so units of Kappa cars are a tad short of the 250k capacity it was designed for.

that's why there have been rumors of a volume coupe and vert going in there in a short amount of time. wonder what those 2 could be???????

Problem I see with that is a coupe couldnt eat up 200k units. It would need to be a single unit, maybe an upcoming EPII plant, maybe it could make some Delta cars. What ever it is, trusting that plant to make a Camaro alone, without having the ability to adjust to market is scary. I could see it being the coupe factory, or making the SWB RWD chassis.

way i see it, the coupe and vert are only gonna be around Lutz's estimates at best. say it's 150K a year. that gives us 180K roughly a year.

only thing i could see is (and this is just speculation):

either the next gen GTO as a 20K a year car (don't know how they are pitching the business case yet)

or

the Stingray rumors aren't that far off and there will be another Kappa under the Chevy brand.

seems the LWB and SWB Zetas will be built north of the border.

In Detroit, it seemed as if it came down to 2 choices, turning Oshawa #2 into the Zeta-Lite plant, making 300k cars, or splitting it up.
What I am very interested in is the GTO, and G8 talk that is going on. I belive it was Charlie who said it, but that the difference between a large GTO coupe and a 4dr G8 Sedan might be so close that they might just give us ONE car, a 4dr quad coupe design. Maybe we could get a quad coupe AND a proper 2dr coupe.

i hope they do go quad coupe actually. give Buick and Chevy the full size RWDs and let Pontiac have something unique, but don't call it a GTO. Charlie has been leaning towards a quad coupe Zeta for awhile now, and i have a gut feeling he's right. at least we know it isn't the Camaro

i think Guy has the most realistic scenario.

Oshawa will be a single plant facility building the volume RWD Sedans after the current FWD cars finish their run and Willmington will be getting the Camaro to take up the extra capacity.

intersting thing i picked up awhile back was the Saturn L series line is still in tact at Willmington. Kappa is only using a small amount of space.

if the Camaro is set for 2008CY, we should be hearing about a remodel going on at Willmington in about a year or so if that's where it's ending up.

This is true. There are other plants such as Hamntrack and there is always that talk of OKC now that the LWB 360s are gone.

hmmmmm....OKC........forgot about that one........GM could pull a nice slight of hand with that plant if they really wanted to.

has there been any buzz about what might end up in there???

Well, there was talk about Lambda, but they are going to be made in Delta Twp in Mich. There are no plans for OKC right now.

for some strange reason, i got a feeling OKC and Willmington will be the hottest plants in the rumor mill really soon.
