This isn't a search for pity just a rememberance. And to stop if you hit a poor animal. My dog Tipper a German Shepard Border collie puppy mix was hit today.

She loves riding in the car with my mom, & when my mom let her out of the passenger side door another dog turned the corner across the street and my dog ran across to say Hell. She was hit by oncomming traffic and no one stopped. The person walking the dog didn't stop or the person who took her life. I hope those two people die a horrible horrible death.

My mom witnessed the entire thing and is absolutely devastated. I was called at work by the Police to come home only to find no dog but my mom covered in blood. This is very tough, she was only a puppy, and we've had her for exactly a year. She was the sweatest & happiest dog I have ever seen. This is really tough for me right now.

Heres some pictures of her that I took that I thought Id share. A few member have had the please of meeting her.

The night we got her, Christmas Eve of 2004

Im just really upset because I did not say good bye to her this morning before I went to work. I cant look at her chair that she usualy layed on because the last thing I saw was her resting their she looked and me and closed her eyes and I left.

Alex I'm so sorry for your loss that I actually cried as I read this. I don't know what I'd do if that were my dog, but I've seen it happen to other dogs, and It's truely upsetting. I don't think anyone ever stops to check anymore, it's really a shame. Here's to Tipper...

I'm truly sorry to hear about your dog Alex. I had to put my dog to sleep two years ago, and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I never thought I'd feel better, and honestly it's something you never really get over. But eventually all the good moments will replace that one bad one. Just hang in there and it will get better.

Im sorry Alex, hope it all works out with you and your fam. Let me start off by sharing a story...

I was with one of my friends a few years ago, before I got my license. The driver I really didnt know very well, i guess you can say I hitched a ride with my friend, who knew the driver. We were not even a half mile away from my house since thats where we were headed. A black lab, looked really young, jumped out in the middle of the road, and the driver of the car I was in swerved on purpose and hit him. I was sitting in the back seat, and said "WTF WAS THAT FOR DUDE?" and he just laughed. So when he dropped me off at my house, I ran back down to where the dog was hit, and his owner drug him to the side of the road. I explained to her what happened, and I told her I had no control of it cuz I wasnt driving. She understood, being upset and mad at the same time, and said she called the police. So when the police came, I manned up and told the officer who hit him etc etc. I wasnt being a "taddle tail", it was more frustration with the driver than narcing him out. I gave him all my info etc etc. The dog ended up dying, and as for the driver, I really havent seen or heard from since. Ive asked a cpl of my friends what happened with him and they didnt know either. Ive gotten a couple of phone calls the next day from both the owners of the dogs thanking me up the wazoo. It really sucks to see a dog someone loved dying in front of them.

Like I said, hope all goes well with this situation.

I'm so sorry to hear about this, and I can only imagine how you must feel. People can be very cruel and heartless, and I don't know how the people that didn't stop can live with themselves knowing what happened. My heart truly goes out to you.

sorry to hear about your lose alex, i can only image how you feel and how your family feels. like everyone said, i hope they burn in hell. losing a pet that way is my biggest fear. I know how it feels to love a pet. my first dog passed away two hears ago and it was the hardest thing i ever faced. she was always there for me. everyone in my family was upset.

:(
sorry to hear about that! definitely brought a tear to my eye.
i have a border collie, shes about 9 years old now, and i have no idea what i would do without her. they are just dogs that prove that love at first sight is possible.

(if it would make you feel better, you could probably look at that sports illustrated calendar you have in the background of the first pic)

That sucks. I used to let my dog loose once in a while when I took her for a walk on the golf course across the street but she headed for the road to chase a squirrel one day and that was it! We have a fenced in back yard where she runs free, but once we're out the front door she has a leash on. And more than once there was someone else walking a dog by our house so she would have chased after the other dog if she was loose. I've helped people in our neighborhood grab their dogs when they get loose so that something bad won't happen. I've let quite a few dogs into our back yard to chase my dog until I can get a leash on them. That's a major bummer though.

really sorry to hear about your loss bro. it's ashame when an animal is hurt or killed because they are innocent to a lot of the problems caused by people.

I couldn't agree more, and that's all dogs in general. Dog's love us and ask nothing back of us but the same, its the closest thing to unconditional that we can feel.

I'm very sorry for you're loss, it's amazing how inconsiderate and barbaric people can be.

I had to run away from home for a bit to clear my head, but when I come home I was just attracted to the spot my mom held her last. Im not handeling this at all. This dog was very smart, and I understand the leash comments but she has always done well with exiting cars and ignoring other dogs. It was just one of those days I guess. My mom didn't get any info on the car it was just one of those instant moments where time freezes.

I have never wished more in my life that I could save something from my dog and have her cloned in the future. I just cant accept that she won't be there for me anymore when I come home from work.

sorry to hear about your loss. its amazing how a dog works its way into a family, to eventually become a part of it as anyone else. but wishing or wanting something bad to happen to the person who did this isnt cool either. just because he/she is a dickhead doesnt mean they dont have a family that cares about them. i know how bad you feel, and personally wouldnt want anyone else to feel that way, even if someone deserves a serious lesson. i feel everyone gets whats coming to them, one way or another. once again i am really sorry to hear about your pup.

i'm really sorry to hear about your pup Alex. i've had dogs my whole life and know what it's like to lose one, but not in the same way as you.

i had to put down my 15 year old lab alittle over 2 years ago. i had him from when he was less than a year old. it really is loosing a family member.

while i will not openly wish harm on the person driving the car, i will say everybody gets whats coming to them.

i've lost alot of really close family in the past few years, just takes time to learn how to handle it bro.

I cant say how sorry i feel for you man, we have never even met, but i am such a dog lover that I really hate to hear things like this, you did an awesome job with the pics thats a great way of saying how you love tipper.
as far as the two people that were involved to hell with them, please dont let that get to you, there are too many people with no "heart" out there.

how sad.

not much you can do now except grieve and learn from the experience. apply that knowledge to any future pets, hopefully saving them from the same type of fate.

Wow....I'm so sorry to hear Alex.

It's a shame that people can't be bothered to even stop and apologize in a situation like that. I wouldn't necessarily blame the driver for hitting your dog, however not stopping was a crappy thing to do.

We're here for ya man...

Wow, I am very sorry to hear that man...It sucks how some people have no regard for life even though it was an animal..
