Does anyone know that If I were to swap an OBDII LS1 into my OBDI LT1 car, how would I go about inspection? Would they test my car like a 1995 OBDI car the old fashion way? Or Plug me in like an OBDII Car, and if so would I need two catalytic converters to pass a visual?

they woudl test you as OBD1 since that is what you vin tells them to do. the LS1 is a cleaner burning engine than the LT1 though, so you coudl actually get away with more and still make it through.

Heh - were were discussing the same thing when Tim had the '83 and was contemplating the LS1 swap....it sucks that they go by the vin and not the drivetrain, but what are ya gonna do?

Another quick question, would my 95 T56, bolt right up to lets say a 00 LS1?

No, your T56 has a standard 6 bolt sbc bolt pattern, and the LS1 uses a weird 7 bolt pattern. I think only 2 or 3 of the holes match up. You should be able to grab an adaptor plate easily though.

but couldn't he just reuse his t56 but instead of using his lt1 bellhousing, he could get a ls1 bellhousing and just bolt his trans to that, he'd just need to get updated hydraulics and slave cylinder.
