Collector vehicles with the triangle-shaped inspection sticker are emissions and safety exempt. It's basically a late-model showcar.

except cars registered as a collector don't need inspection.

I believe the exact rule is that if its a model that came with cats from the factory, you need cats, or if you get pulled over the cop can be a dick and write you the HUGE ass fine, whatever it is for no cats. If it did not come with cats, its fine.

I have what appear to be cats on my car.. however, they hold no purpose ;)

yeah, just have it them "appear" to be there. Basically on any car i'll be running with historic or collector registration, thats what i'll be doing. The DMV people may not do emissions testing but they do still do a quick safety check and may just look for cats to be there, who knows, better safe than sorry.

the dmv does nothing. its the cops that pull you over you have to watch out for. To get QQ plates, all you need to do is show MVC i think 3 photos of the car, no inspection ever.. its simple.

When I got my Collector sticker, all the guy asked me was what size engine was in the car, and how many miles were on it. He didn't pop the hood, look underneath, drive it, or even realize that my front windows are tinted; just slapped the sticker on the window and said "Have a nice day!"

If the state says my car is now emissions exempt, the cops can't give me a ticket for not having a cat on the car.

My old boss has a collector sticker for his Viper (with no cats). All he had to do at the Freehold inspection station was drive the car around the building once to prove the odometer worked, and that was it.
